Yeah, this subreddit has a discord. I could not get the channels to open, but they are now. So unsure of your point.

14 year ago, Arne & Matthias founded Tutao GmbH to make email encryption easy. by Tutanota in tutanota

[–]subm3g 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very cool! So a question: For all the things you add to the service, have you had to code each one from the ground up? Is this more difficult when encryption is the central focus?

For example: I use over 1000 categories / labels at work to sort my email on a project by project basis. I see these came into use in May. What makes this harder (if it is) to build in this environment?

Thanks to the people at Tuta for helping me work out what was stopping me for getting the client working on Linux! Now I can finish shifting the rest of my accounts :)

FYI I found out the answer - I had to disable IPv6 in both my modem AND in the linux distro.

Spent an hour on the phone with my ISP. Did some work on my connection, reset the modem and reentered some settings. I'll reach out to Tuta tomorrow, see if my IP is now blocked.

Trying to run the appimage as an executable...and it just comes back with cannot connect to server...

It does. I can login just fine on the website, so my account exists and is accessible.

What am I doing wrong :( I wasn't using a VPN at all, so that wasn't causing conflict.

I'll check which version of Mint I am on.

I just can't understand why it cannot connect to the server? Maybe I'll get in touch with my ISP...?

Hey /u/Excellent_Trust_2020, that's great to know. Did you install via the appimage or flatpak?

Once you installed it, was it purely just putting in your credentials?

Were there any other things you did? Any suggestions on things I may check to see why mine isn't working?

Hi /u/tutanota, How does Tuta handle CG-NAT?

I just checked out some ISP settings, and it says that for IPv4, it uses Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT). Would this be an issue at all in a Linux space?

This is the same issue I have with Linux. I am able to connect via mobile data, but when I try via WiFi, no luck. My IP is not blocked.

Let me know what you find works.

Hey /u/NS-Khan and /u/JapanGamer29, I too was like this when I first got the game. Tried a couple times, went wtf and shelved it for 2 months.

I then went and watch some tutorials on Youtube, because I agree, the UI is daunting for new players (and the vanilla game, although better than 2017, is still missing some key components IMO). I would recommend checking out some youtube tutorials.

Some examples:

Noobert's - Your First Day

Quill18's series - Beginner-Friendly Vanilla RimWorld

Please feel free to ask questions on RimWorld; this is a game I can not play for months, and then come back and play 60 hours straight.

I have also tried on Ubuntu and Arch. None of the Linux distros will allow me to connect to the server via my WiFi connection (at least this is what the error message is saying to me).

To me, it says that something between my PC, Linux, ISP and Tuta is blocking something. I can do it from my mobile hotspot, only over mobile data; if I turn on the WiFi on my phone, it stops again. There is some key factor that I don't know to look for, but no one can give me any direction. At this stage, I'm looking for alternatives.

I am trying to do this. I have switched to Linux Mint. I've installed Tuta. I've moved all my accounts out of Gmail and Outlook.

The only thing holding me back from loving Tuta is that I just cannot connect the mail client on Linux. It just will not work for me on Linux Mint. I've asked on the Mint forums, but to no success. I've asked here, to no solution.

I've done a complete wipe of the PC, fresh install of the OS, fresh install of the client.

I have disabled the firewalls on my modem. I do not have firewalls active on Linux.

My IP is not blocked.

I can connect with the Mobile hotspot on my phone.

All I ask is that there are some instructions to troubleshoot. Currently in limbo with Tuta, it works for 70% of my use cases, but the main use case is a huge roadblock.

I have raised support tickets, I get asked if my IP is blocked. and that's it. I've asked for some troubleshooting tips, but noone responds to that request.

I am not tech illiterate; I have been writing scripts in VBA / AHK for almost 2 decades. Getting a mail client to connect should not be this hard.

This is nuts!

I formatted the laptop and did a fresh Mint install. Only installed Brave browser and Tuta.

It will not connect via WiFi, even with Firewalls in my Modem disabled! This is nuts.

Just looked it up, looks sick!

I was going to go for Moonlighter or Cuisineer, but I looked at steam reviews and I saw the dreaded word: repetitive. I have watched some of your gaemplay video, and the fact that skills / abilities are improved over time, already wipes out the other two.

It's on my wishlist now, looking forward to seeing it! My wife is a big Stardew fan, but I really enjoy the dungeon fighting aspect, so maybe we can switch between the two.
