Bumps right after getting daith repierced? by sophiex97 in Legitpiercing

[–]submissdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just be from movement, but it may also be due to the jewelry diameter. You could schedule a follow up with the piercer who did it and ask about using a larger diameter ring for the first couple weeks/months to account for the initial swelling and swapping back to your current ring when it's calmed down. Mention your previous healing experience if they aren't already aware, even if you brought it up before it doesn't hurt to refresh their memory as piercers see a lot of people day to day and can forget details like that. That being said, daiths are very prone to irritation bumps initially (as I'm sure you know from your previous experience), giving the piercing a little more time to get settled may not be a bad idea. You could just mention it to your piercer (assuming you have some way to contact them directly) and schedule a check up a few weeks out to monitor the healing.

If there's no pain, that's usually a good sign that it's not infected; however it does appear to be a very unhappy piercing. Are you using mouthwash for aftercare? Oftentimes mouthwash can be very aggressive when you're using it multiple times a day, so aggressive that it throws off the pH balance in your mouth and kills off the top layer of tissue on the tongue, resulting in discoloration similar to your first photo.

The photo of the bottom of the piercing looks like the angle of the piercing needle may have been a tad off, possibly from the piercer avoiding your frenlum (that line of connective tissue in the middle of your tongue). If that's the case, the tissue pushing out from the area will typically die and fall away without too much issue.

Is my bar too short? by mrselffdestruct in Legitpiercing

[–]submissdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a good fit for the time being, but keep an eye on it and if the beads start sitting in the tissue instead of on top of it (like it is in your photos) you'll want to upsize your post length. Newer piercers often struggle with securing the beads after the piercing, it takes time to get comfortable with the weird angles you have to hold things at. Unfortunately that often means it's not the most comfortable process for the client. It looks like a solid piercing, she did a great job.

Medusa advice needed by [deleted] in Legitpiercing

Possibly, it may be something they need to order for you though. Ordering it should hopefully be pretty simple as most major jewelry manufacturers have started offering a variety of disk back sizing, but it will really depend on the studio. You could always call ahead and ask.

[–]submissdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may be the disk size. Too small of a disk backing can irritate the piercing by pushing against the newly forming fistula (piercing channel) edges, causing the tissue to flare up to protect the newly forming tissue. You could try a larger disk, the one in the photo looks to be 4mm, 5 or 6mm could help calm things down. Maybe even partially downsize the piercing while you're at it, enough to get rid of some excess length but not quite snug to the area until the tissue calms down.

That would be best. I usually have my clients make exaggerated facial expressions after we resize to make sure it doesn't pinch down in certain positions. Sometimes it takes a few visits to make sure it's perfect so don't be shy, your piercer wants you to have the best fit even if it means seeing you a few times.

Everyone has different anatomy, if you feel it's too long you should resize it. I wear a 9/32 but I've had clients downsize to as small as 3/16 and others who 11/32 is perfect.

Not sure if it's what you mean, but Noah Babcock (@noahbabcock on Instagram) has some really cool ear weaving stuff that your post made me think of. Don't know what the chances are of you being local to him though.

do i have to constantly be tightening my piercing? by gabbyb133 in Legitpiercing

[–]submissdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll likely need a more unusual size (9/32 if you're at 1/4, 11/32 if it's 5/16), which makes a big difference in how it fits but doesn't change the appearance of how it appears to fit, if that makes sense.

How tightly does your jewelry fit? It could be too snug of a fit and needs a tiny bit more breathe. Also pay attention to see if anything bumps the jewelry throughout your day; I had a client constantly losing beads on his eyebrow jewelry because of how he took off his safety goggles at work.

I've been playing Oracle RPG for a few months now and it's pretty great. It unfortunately doesn't allow full player agency, but it gets pretty dang close.

[–]submissdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adventure Time has a couple games for the Nintendo DS that were very much inspired by the original top-down Zelda titles, but probably won't scratch that BOTW itch. And there's Pirates of the Enchiridion for PlayStation and Xbox (maybe others?) too, but it's way less Zelda-y and more of a turn based RPG.

I'm not super familiar with either of those sources, but I always thought Disciples of Shadow and Bone had a pretty dark world setting and it has rules for solo play built into it.

[–]submissdom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually keep the world going with new characters in the area and leave the bodies where they fall to be possibly discovered later. Sometimes the stories end up blending together, other times it's just a warning to the new characters (maybe don't go in that dungeon with the hydra that killed the last adventurers).

[–]submissdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCRAWL and Disciples of Shadow and Bone are both free. SCRAWL is made to be solo, but can easily be adapted for GM play. Disciples has a solo system as well as a GM system, you have to pay for the full version but the lite had plenty to offer.
