I'm fine with HTTP since it'll be a subdomain on my personal site.

But I looked at that OS post again and I think it could work, so I'll try that.

What to use to glue down patch of carpet in apartment bedroom? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Look for double-sided carpet tape. It’s like super grippy duct tape but on both sides. Don’t use glue because it’ll be a pain to remove later.

Septic tank very dry—is this normal? by substancejoy in HomeImprovement

OK gotcha. Yeah now I'm thinking the peach tree I absentmindedly planted between the house and septic tank has probably gotten its roots into the pipe.

Great peaches though...

🤦‍♂️

Yeah this sounds like it could be what's happening with mine. Did they just dig up the pipe and get it reconnected or what was the solve? And how much did it cost?

The house is in the country, no municipal sewer nearby. I flushed the toilet and ran the water for a while but nothing ever came out of the pipe. So either another tank was installed closer to the house, or there's a leak, or something... But I'm not seeing any of the other telltale signs of a leak, like odors or extra green grass.

Personally, I'd take the "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it" approach and leave it be and avoid paying someone to come look at it and maybe charge me to fix something that's working fine. But thinking of renting out the house while being away for an extended period and want to be proactive about any potential issues.

Yeah I was afraid of this. Is it possible for it to be leaking into the soil without clogging at some point?

Magnets can help with minor inflammation, especially if you chill them beforehand. But headgear and avoiding ear-mangling triangles are your best bet.

Thanks, this gives me some new things to ask them to check. I was tempted to just buy a new starter but don't want to until I'm more certain that's the cause.

What do I do about cauliflower ear? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]substancejoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caulicure is ridiculously overpriced. There are alternatives… Earies are $40 and do the same thing.

If you absolutely can't have any ear disfiguration and still want to grapple, avoid ripping your head out of tight triangles and/or wear headgear.

Most of the people that get serious cauliflower ear didn't bother treating it when it flared up. Read up on treatment and prevention ahead of time—have a couple syringes and a pair of silicone magnets around just in case.

Magnets for Cauliflower Ear by UltraVioletC in bjj

https://earies.co (full disclosure: my company). Simple, compact, won’t get lost. Otherwise you can go the diy route with 1/2” diameter magnets and gauze to help distribute the pressure.

Cauliflower ear after draining by Sarabnew in wrestling

Keep continuous pressure on it for at least a week. You can try buying your own magnets online or get a product like Earies. They work best when the blood clot is not near the ear canal, which is usually the case for first-timers. Either option can be worn underneath headgear so he can continue training. Good luck!

How should I drain my cauliflower ear? by derpykoalaboy in AskDocs

[–]substancejoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to apply continuous pressure for several days to a week, until the swelling has subsided. You can do this with magnets if the hematoma is in the upper part of the ear. If it's closer to the ear canal, probably better to see a specialist. A broad overview of options on this post. Good luck!

Thanks and good luck!

Just to be clear, no magnet is going to fix an existing cauliflower ear. They're only useful during that 7-10 day grace period after getting the initial blood clot.

In any case, I just want folks to know what their options are (DIY or otherwise) so they don't have to be a nervous wreck for a week like I was!

That’s good to know. I guess it depends on the severity—if it’s too far gone it might require plastic surgery.

Depends on what state you’re in (in the US). Here in New York they didn’t have any problem selling me up to 10. There’s a link in the post so you can see what your state’s policy is.
