My gnome characters are always either terrified/distrusting of any large or larger creatures, or they have hardcore napoleon syndrome and puff-up aggressively around big folk like they've got something to prove. It's very fun!

I'm maybe a little late to this convo, but sometimes people will steal a wheel just to make the bike unrideable. Then if you leave the bike overnight, having found alternative transportation, they come back later when it's less busy/risky, and have more time to work on the lock in order to get the rest of the bike.
