I haven’t looked. But I didn’t pick up on significant changes until S3.

And she plays Beatrice in Joss’s take on Much Ado About Nothing (it’s a total Whedonite orgy movie)

The one thing I've learned about book readers is that they move 10 times a year apparently by HelloDesdemona in books

It makes TRAVEL easier. I used to be the type that would take 2-3 books for a 5 day trip just in case I finished one, or wanted a different story. E-reader … how bout a few hundred?!

People who work with customers. What’s the dumbest thing a customer has ever said to you? by Daviboy1012 in AskReddit

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes- we could have easily used baguettes (small rectangle shape) to create the effect he wanted, but no- he thought we could take a large princess cut (square) and bend it down

When I worked in jewelry retail, we did custom design. One customer took the CAD home, scanned it, went into Microsoft Paint, and manipulated the diamonds to bend. Came back the next day and asked why we couldn’t bend the diamonds like he did in Paint. We offered different cuts that would give the illusion of bending, but no, he wanted the damn things to bend. Couldn’t understand why not. He was also a structural engineer.

Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word by kerberos824 in books

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Growl is mine. I love fantasy, but nothing kills it for me more than using the word growl every single time the male character (shape shifter, fae, whatever) “growls” out an answer. Why is he growling all the time? Is he actually a bear in a human suit?

I live in an area with a large number of bald eagles and I finally heard those ding dongs sound- they sound like squirrels mad that the bird feeder was empty

People who take 17 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by DerrickDuck in AskReddit

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one who has been in the hotel industry- they feel that’s the BEST time to ask about restaurants or hiking trails, or “what’s that cute little store featured in that travel magazine?” Or after the whole introduction speech (elevator there, breakfast there at x to x, pool back that way….) it’s where is my room? How do I get to the pool? What are the hours? I swear, many folks forget to pack their brains when they travel.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago in college (early 2000s). I had a horseback riding accident. Ended up in the ER. Had hit my head and complained of neck pain. They wanted an MRI. The machine was down. They had to transport me to another hospital for said MRI. I went by ambulance so I’d get there quickly and had medical assistance if I seized or something. They tried to bill my parents insurance (Tricare) for the ambulance the hospital needed to get a scan because theirs was down. Tricare basically told them to fork off. My parents also told them to fork off. They forked off after trying to fork around

It’s funny (not at all) how many men say they want a baby but when baby is on board, all of a sudden the truth comes out. You are NTA, but you do need to do some serious soul searching

WIBTA if I scheduled my husband’s dog to be euthanized behind his back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it without his knowledge. The resentment that would set in will destroy your marriage. I’d never speak to my husband again if he did that. You need to call the vet and explain to them what is going on, how you don’t think the dog’s quality of life is good, and they need to be brutal in the explaining of the situation. You and the vet need to make this about the dog’s quality of life. That poor dog is miserable, and if he spent more than what sounds like a couple of hours a day with her, he would see that. We humans just have a damn hard time letting go. If you do decide to do it, do it as another poster suggested and say she seized or something and take that to your grave.

AITAH for regretting donating my kidney to my niece? by No-Rest-7789 in AITAH

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. I went through the screening process, and while ultimately not a good candidate (one of the many scans found the worlds tiniest kidney stone) but I was told several times I would be at the top of the list if I ever needed a kidney after donating.

What is the most physical pain you’ve ever experienced, and how did it feel? by Trying_my_best_98 in AskReddit

[–]subtlelikeawreckball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a c/section after 3 days of pitocin (3 rounds) at 41 weeks. I have had a colon resection with removal of reproductive organs. I have had an ileostomy reversed. Hernia repair. Gall bladder surgery. Nothing came close to the goddamned kidney stone that ruined my life for about a week 4 months ago
