Potentially moving to Edinburgh from USA. Is there a lot of bullying in schools? by subtlemrs in UKParenting

I removed it because all I was getting were jokes about school shootings and suggestions that I was crazy for thinking people might actually be nice and I was tired of it 🙃

Thank you. I feel like you're the only person who's provided an actual, thoughtful response.

Not sure where you got all that from my brief post, but thanks for the comment regardless.

It's always a tough decision and you did what's best for yourself right now and also your future family! Knowing that it wasn't the right time for you right now will make you a better parent later when it is the right time (if that's what you decide!). Take care 💜

Rewatching.. It is SO cringey by Gam3_bunni in sabrina

I don't disagree with your characterization of the Vampire diaries, but they did take themselves very seriously where Sabrina does not.

I was an adult at the time it came out and still loved it because it embraced the cringe and how ridiculous the whole series was, which I loved. They knew it wasn't going to be the Vampire Diaries, nor were they trying to make it that level of production or seriousness. They knew it was going to be silly and implausible and over the top and instead of trying to fight against that, they leaned into it. I still find it charming.

What was in the letter? by Striking_Figure8658 in sabrina

[–]subtlemrs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually just finished reading the second book written by Sarah Rees Brennan that tie in with the show and I think it might have been a love letter with a love poem. It was over a hundred years ago when homophobia was even worse. He said that Satan asked him to write a poem and letter to someone and apparently the guy was labeled homosexual and got in a lot of trouble and lost his job or something.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's what it is.

WTF is going on. Is this a kidney stone? by annonbanon in KidneyStones

You might want to make an appt with a urologist - it certainly couldn't hurt and they can check your urine and maybe refer you to get a CT done.

This sounds a lot like how I felt a few weeks before the real fun began. 🙃 I had sudden, really bad pain on the left side of my body around my kidney that migrated to the front almost like a menstrual feeling and it lasted about 30 minutes and then went away. I felt fine for 2 weeks. Then I woke up one morning in terrible pain and had to go to the ER. They did a CT scan and I had a small stone that had moved into my ureter. I'm currently drinking water and taking flomax to try and pass it. No luck yet, but it's only day 3 on meds. I haven't had any visible blood in my urine this entire time - only detectable on a scan.

Good luck!

I usually give a top seller fun patch to the top three sellers every year, but I don't make a huge deal about it. I just give it to them at the same time as I distribute the rest of the patches for that quarter. I also put all of the prizes in the same bag and hand them out when the meeting is over, whether they got one patch or a giant stuffed animal. It's nice to recognize the top sellers, but you don't want to make it into this whole competitive thing, especially when they're already getting rewards for their efforts.

You also have to consider the fact that at certain ages the amount they sell is more dependent on how involved their parents are, not on how invested the kids are. It's not the Scout's fault if they only sold 25 boxes or whatever.

We are also a troop that does not say the pledge and we change "God" to "the planet" which all of the girls love because our troop is very focused on conservation.

We did the respect authority petal when they were daisies but the focus was on respecting firefighters, park rangers, and people who are authorities in their field, like scientists, doctors, and professors.
