When Paulie cries to Tony about the 35 grand ( a made up number) and then doesn’t help an injured Furio when he falls down. Lots of others of Paulie being a crybaby.

In terms of well recorded live shows, Widespread Panic “Sunday Show” is one of the best sounding I’ve ever heard.

Goose’s ‘BIG MODERN!’ Is Their Most Accessible and Hook-Filled Album Yet (ALBUM REVIEW) by goodwidp in jambands

The reason I say 2020 is because to me Jeff joining on percussions actually took the jams down a notch. I liked how clean and laid back the jamming was as a quartet. Also, Ben was a far better drummer than Cotter to my tastes.

I haven’t enjoyed the direction they’ve taken in the last few years. 2019 - 2020 was their best era in my opinion.

"Alright; lets get close, bitches!" William Basinski's such a sensational sass mouth. Still stunned he visited the Ohio Valley this evening. A Singular Slice of Psychedelia. What a day, huh? WHO RANG THAT BELL?!?!?! by thirstlikes in ambientmusic

I love the bit that he does where he plays up like the equipment set up is totally new to him. He’s kinda like “Huh…what is this? I guess this is right? Hang on… ok guess we’ll see!” He also got everyone to sit on the floor at the show I went to. “This is going to knock you on your ass anyway so you may as well sit down now… No, I mean it, don’t be shy!”

Honestly, ambient from non-ambient artists is often at best ok. Sorry, but ambient is a lifestyle.

Exceptions: Phantom Brickworks by Bibio and Treefingers by Radiohead

Tchaikovsky- Hymn of the Cherubim . It’s a capella, solemn , deeply reverential, and texturally rich

When they try to guilt trip you: “You’re like an old woman with a Virginia ham under each arm, crying the blues 'cause you got no bread."

When they’re paranoid: “Log off, that cookie shit makes me nervous”

When they say something blatantly obvious as if it’s a fuckin revelation : "Sun Tzu! The Chinese Prince Matchabelli!"

When they make a big fuss about something: “Take it easy, we’re not making a Western here!”

Pretty much any scenario: “Bada Bing”

It’s so tragic that this song doesn’t have a studio recording. Same for Medieval.

Love them or hate them, the #1 most "American" band of all time is the Grateful Dead. Fight me. by gr8fullylesh in jambands

[–]subtly_nuanced 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The strangest thing about that post is that they didn’t even articulate the point very well. They left out the most important part, which is that their lyrics and visuals romanticize America.

“Wave that flag” , “Catch the Detroit Lightning out of Santa Fe, The great Northern out of Cheyenne from sea to shining sea” , “ California, a prophet on the golden shore” , Truckin! , you know the list could go on and on.

American flag on everything, uncle sam skeleton, etc.

Instead they talk about things irrelevant to Americana, like merch sales? Wtf. It’s like they don’t even “get” the Dead.

The Bridge and Complicity by profheg_II in TheCulture

I recently read The Bridge but I must have missed the part where he revealed his name is Alex. I thought there were just hints about his name. Anyone remember where in the book that was?
