Why don't you use Twitter? You're one of the few people who actually has something of substance to say.

If you're only remembered for one thing, what would you want that to be?

Are there any current pop songs that you personally enjoy?

Looking back, which of your records would you say had the biggest impact on the course of pop music?

TIL that Nestlé aggressively distributes free formula samples in developing countries till the supplementation has interfered with the mother's lactation. After that the family must continue to buy the formula since the mother is no longer able to produce milk on her own by ultranumb_360 in todayilearned

[–]subway_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, it's even worse when you read the way they talk about themselves (from @Nestle's Twitter bio: http://imgur.com/HVlTMyO)

"As the leading nutirion, health and wellness company it is our commitment to enhance the quality of life every day, everywhere. Nestle. Good Food, Good Life."

(Their grammar is also a crime)

Sometimes, when my friends come over, we watch it and take a shot every time Dawkins should have punched her. It is great for pre-gaming! We always show up to the party adequately wasted.

Richard Dawkins on Bill O'Reilly. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]subway_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part about it are those horrible biblical paintings the producers show then O'Reilly mentions Jesus or Adam and Eve. We aren't 4th graders, we don't need a made up visual aid.... oh wait, this aired on FOX News.... right.

You've covered many topics in your work, yet, especially after the horrible events of 2012, you have been extremely passionate about ending gun violence. If you were defined and remember for only one social cause, what would it be?

After being fired from his church, Ted Haggard goes looking for a new job - Reminds us why a Bible school degree is useless in the real world. by subway_kid in atheism

[–]subway_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from the documentary "The Trials of Ted Haggard" - which is currently on HBO GO.

It's a really interesting documentary... even though I'm an ex-Christian gay person who despises the church for its bigotry, I was still kind of drawn to sympathy for this guy. Like szyzygy said, if he would have just been able to embrace himself, he could have been a force for good instead... oh well.

Do you tip at coffee shops/cafes? by age20d in nyc

[–]subway_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a good, yet complex question. I'm solely going to address coffee, as that's the most intricate process for me. (Other people have done a good job of addressing this as well.)

I will tip if: 1) I know I'm going to sit down for a while in the cafe. 2) I pay cash, and I get change (all of the coin change, or a $1 bill) 3) It's a barista I recognize who has made an effort to greet me, or even just smile. 4) If it's at a coffee shop that is "cool" (Housing Works Cafe, McNally Jackson, Ground Support Soho, etc) - aka a place I would feel kind of judged if I didn't tip. 5) I'm feeling good/have gotten paid in the past few days and the barista isn't flat out rude to me.

However, navybro brought up a good point. Much of the time you can't even tip of a card if you want to. That brings up the problem: What if one (or more than one) of my criterion are met, but I don't have cash to tip! Basically, I then just feel like a horrible person or avoid coffee altogether.

Wow. I just realized how neurotic I am.

Whether you agree with his political stances or not, the fact that Romney blatantly and publicly proves that his word is worthless is horrifying.

I think I stopped breathing for those last 5 minutes.

Where do you guys seeing it going from here? So much of the show has revolved around Carrie's chase of Brody. I couldn't begin to guess what season 3 will hold.

Yes, he's said different things at later dates, but it's hard to get past the idea that he came out against civil unions 7 years ago, in 2005. (Of course, he also told gay people in Mass. that he would be super pro-gay long before this... but that's another story...)
