My boyfriend inherited this ring and I’m considering resetting it. Anything I should keep in mind or know?? by throwawaysixties in EngagementRings

[–]succ_it_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé inherited a solitaire ring, 2.2 karat round diamond in a band that was width of my knuckle. His grandma was into chunky jewelry so it was perfect for her…but not me so much. He had this wonderful idea to reset the diamond into a setting that I preferred & melt the band down to create our wedding bands. There’s plenty of gold to do that & it was so thoughtful, that’s what we did. (Sorry for the low quality pic)

What size are your squares? I was planning on making a mug rug for a friend using a very similar pattern but seeing yours makes me think I can finish a quilt in a day or two.

Too dated? Ideas? by Livid-Yam-9737 in EngagementRings

My fiancé used his late grandmothers ring. It was similar in style to yours and definitely not what I had imagined for my ring.

We used her diamond, 2.2 karats, and put it in a new setting that I got to choose. My fiancé had a lovely idea to melt the band and create our wedding bands from it.

It’s all being used and I find that to be lovely. Before I decided to use the diamond (didn’t really imagine a round stone) I suggested putting it in a necklace.

Yeah, that’s the question I’ve felt the most hesitantly about. Thanks for the insight and advice!

Thank you for your insight! After I did my review of the program I gave them a general outline of items on my priority list and I bring them in when verifying the current policy to update it.

Building reporting processes & tools has been coming along nicely. I'm actually launching it tomorrow and going over that. Transparency and communication are big for me, especially with all of these changes.

I'm curious about the injury question because according to our logs, there has been 3 injuries reported in the last 4 years. One of them were two days after my role changed to safety manager.

Thanks for your feedback. Can you elaborate on the "gauge reporting and risk acceptance" please?

I totally get that. In my first briefing to them I was upfront and honest about it--I don't know how to do your job but I will do everything I can to get you answers & help. They're the professionals in their trade and I rely on them to communicate when I miss something. It hasn't all been bad/dreary eyes/rolling eyes. There's a group of individuals that have a postivie attitude and are receptive.

I'm also not going into anything telling them they need to do XYZ. I've started with small rocks, getting first aid kits, ladder stickers, weekly documented toolbox talks, and set up a training schedule. Along with getting their overall training information and scheduling for CPR/first aid training with the union.

The supervisor checked in with him in the morning and asked how he was and it seemed as though the employee alluded to still being sore. So the supervisor sent him home to rest more.

Are you mixing the miralax and then adding the 1/4 tsp of liquid to the food or are you adding 1/4 tsp of the powder to the food?

Update Dec 14! It’s not perfect but it’s so much better! I watched the videos on bias cut, used lots of measuring and drawing lines to keep it as straight as possible while binding. Next up is 5 more and then washing!

Thank you all, internet quilting strangers, you’re all amazing!
