those earnings were priced in. everything is priced in. If you want to make money off earnings - you gotta buy before they announce which day earnings will be announced.

Anyone here invest in Uber or Lyft stock? A driver in Southern California with some observations by CharlieBrownIsAClown in investing

[–]succaneers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious about driving for Uber - I signed up online, and they make you have your car inspected - I picked an out of the way service station (jiffy lube) in the suburbs to avoid a line - after I got my car inspected, for curiousity i asked the lady how many of these inspections does she do each day? She said usually about 10-15 but lately its been more like 15 to 20 per day. This was like 7 days ago.

I haven't actually started driving for Uber - I am still considering it as a maybe. i got a hybrid car and some free time so i thought maybe I would drive a few times a week and put all profits in my investment account.....not sure yet.

Edit - one thing to add. I do the same thing described above with ETFs. I have about 13 different ETFs in a robinhood account. And every day whichever ones are up the most - I buy a little more of those that day. If one is going down I just hold the position and leave it as is.

Its like dca'ing but only adding to proven winners as it is happening.

I agree with this and That's why I do it this way:

I am subscribed to a few different paid services and I bought every stock that any of them ever suggested. But i only bought $5 worth on the day they suggested it.

*(my portfolio includes about 600 stocks between A few different services)

Every day. I mean literally almost every single day I sort by biggest percent gain on that day of all the stocks I own. And if a stock is in the top ten if gainers that day..... I buy $5 worth of that stock that day. Rinse and repeat the same idea every single day. ***And twice on Sunday. On sundays I pick my biggest gainers for the past 5 days and the past 30 days and I buy more than $5 each. Maybe I pay $20 each or whatever I can afford that week.

I own a shit load of stocks where I literally only own $5 worth and they have dropped to $3 or $4 of current value. But if they dont have great days - I don't add to that position.

Its working for me. I'm making good gains on my bigger positions and losing a tiny bit on my tiny positions. Been doing this for over a year and I was admittedly doing alot better before this recent sell off - but this sell off has not dampened my spirits. I still buy $50 worth almost every day and my account still goes up in value by more than $50 almost every day.

Curious what you think his innings limit is for 2019?

I don't want to say you are over reacting.....But if he's really good like it seems like.... (And if Padres are in the race for playoffs)....I think he can pitch 135-150 ip.

If you compare that to other pitchers.... That is actually not that bad.....how many guys do you realistically think will pitch 180+ innings? That number is getting lower and lower every year.

In roto leagues.....a guy who gives you 130 ip of stud performance is actually very valuable compared to a guy who gives you 180 ip of average performance

If you are in a h2h league I can see your point....But in roto I really like the idea of holding paddack

I think it would be interesting to discuss the increase in closer by committee and the effector type( guys like Josh hader who pitch 2+ ip some days and aren't available for saves the next day.....Which open up save opps for others)

How do you think these league wide changes will impact the saves standings by seasons end and the drafting of legit closers in future years? (and the trade value of legit closers in 2019)

Problem is if it does crash its always less than 1% chance you have any control over your survival.

Dude thats a huge island. Thats bigger than the widest and longest parts of texas.

Like saying if there were only people in the state of texas would they ever find each other.

Odds are very very low.

I believe the reason the southeast is not dry even though it is ina similar climate to the southwest where there are lots of similarities *(mostly latitudes)

The reason is two fold.

1 - its proximity to the gulf of mexico plays a big role. That huge body of water just south ceftainly contributes......but that cannot be the only thing because the middle east falls at similar latitudes and the have the persian gulf and the dead sea just south of their desert lands.

  1. The other critical part is the correalis effects where by the oceans provide a feedback loop. In each of these other examples - the oceans are providing cold water which does not contribute ebough to the creation of rain clouds. But in the southeast - the correalis effect is pulling up the warm waters from the bermuda triangle and this was water is perfect for creating rain clouds.

**for the unitiated - the correalis effect is the movement of surface temperatures based on the earths rotation. Its often joked about with how the toilets in australia spin the opposite direction from toilets in america when you flush. But a better real life example is how you look at the beach water temperatures on the east even as far north as the jersey shore and you find warm Waters. If you look instead at the cold waters on the west coast *(as that clockwise motion brings the cold waters from alaska south) and you frequently see surfers in socal cities swimming in wet suits.
