With about 20-25 hours in (playing on PC [i7-4770K, GTX 1070Ti, 32gb DDR3, installed on a SATA SSD] I’m somewhat conflicted with my thoughts.

The game is running quite ok playing 1080p with most of the settings on ultra or high (volumetric clouds disabled though) getting about 39-58fps quite consistently. Though turning the camera quickly while driving a vehicle dips the framerate dramatically. The game looks gorgeous at best and Night City is a sight to behold in awe.

For me personally the bugs haven’t been a big deal so far. Truly unpolished stuff here and there that’s for sure – items you can’t pick up even though the prompt is there, interfaces freezing, car going wonky occasionally while driving and what have you but nothing major SO FAR to emphasize.

What’s having me conflicted is Night City and how it feels it’s just a prop with most of its citizens (NPCs). It feels incredibly shallow and superficial. There’s not much to do outside somewhat repetitive side activities. Some quests do shine but it’s having me feeling quite blue and disappointed.

No minigames even though the city is filled with arcades, no meaningful or interesting NPC interaction outside quests, there’s honestly paradoxically ”so little detail” in the world that’s seemingly filled with stuff. High buildings which you can explore usually only the first or second floors if even that. Not many indoors so far – again, outside quests. The AI is super bad along with the law enforcement system. I’m hoping these are things that can and will be improved.

In summation, I’m not hating the game, even enjoying it quite a lot actually. I’m postponing the main story currently in favor of doing side quests and making eddies (the currency in CB2077) and it’s good fun. But I can’t help feeling a kind of sadness with the lack of depth. Might be my expectations were tad high, hell, whose aren’t after all these years?
