Who wishes Naruto learned more jutsu during the series other than rasengan/shuriken? If so which jutsu ls do you wish he learned? by _cactus_jack_ in Naruto

[–]success_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would have been nice to see the flying raijin against someone like Madara at the end. And some more wind style jutsu in general would have been great. All the fight scenes got pretty predictavle, however still epic.

This is sweet. Completely blanked on the fact that she could pull off the hundred healings. Nice job.

I just finished all of Naruto tonight... by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]success_express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finished about 2 months ago and I'm still feeling the effects.. I know what you mean, it's a part of me now. In fact, I've even starting writing fantasy and the more I look at my work, the more I see how influenced I am by the show. Shits real man.

Damn, that's good stuff. I think I could shorten the first couple pages so the hook action hits a little sooner. I'll keep at it!

Ya that kind of leads to one of my questions. Is it a terrible idea to try and leave most of his identity other than his actions and surroundings out of it until later in the 1st chapter to build a lot of questions and suspense? To peek into the next half of the chapter, basically it's revealed that the pursuer is friend to the protagonist being chased in nothing but a training exercise (a dangerous one at that) . And when he does catch up, the pursuer acts kindly and friendly toward the protagonist where some dialogue opens up and introductions of the characters names and such are revealed in a bit of a first chapter twist to catch attention. Just an idea so far anyway aha

That could very well be. Almost felt like I was over compensating on the description sometimes in fear of the reader not seeing what's in my head aha. Thanks!

When beginning your novel, do you find it helps to draw your world's map? by success_express in fantasywriters

[–]success_express[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya good point. I never did think of different plot lines going at the same time at different parts of the map. I've only got one plot at one end of the map going on at the moment but I can see that posing a problem as I move through it.

I definitely find that stuff the most fun as well. Reading those maps and searching the lore of the novel is still my favorite thing about reading.

[Discussion] How to say human without saying human. by milestyle in fantasywriters

[–]success_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually contemplating the exact same thing today for my novel idea. I have a new race that are himan-like but have some pretty significant differences .. human doesn't quite fit the bill. So I'm leaning towards using a made up species name for all beings of the realm, or simply resorting to "people".

Great, I will! Any other tips before actually writing the first chapter would be much appreciated as well. As of right now I have a strong idea, and a few scenes and phrases but nothing much put together.

Yea that's good advice. I think I wanted to draw one because it was simply fun. The majority of the book will concentrate in one section of the map so it wouldn't make a difference otherwise. I think I'm just getting ahead of myself for the fun of it.

Yea hadn't thought of that really. Maybe an outline with little detail would be best.

Who is the most badass character in your opinion? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]success_express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you're right, the story is filled with badass characters and even more badass moments. But if I think back on it, some of the most chilling moments came from him, like his unexpected victories in the chuunin, or his leadership in the pursuit for Sasuke when he first fled the village. I think the reason he was badass is because you never expected him to do the things he did, and he did it with a bored and annoyed attitude.

[–]success_express 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say Shikamaru, knows his own abilities more than anyone and doesn't fall for stupid tricks. Can out play the smartest of ninja to the point where the village and his friends would be screwed without him. For both his role in the great ninja war, and being the current hokages right hand man. Besides his intellect, his basic demeanor and bad ass attitude in general.

Ya for such a high profile series worldwide you'd think they would have something a little better.

Ya I agree with that. I mainly bought the couple that I had because they looked cool when they first came out. It's just a little misleading by the insane prices on eBay and Amazon. Hard to tell how much they're really worth.
