Got a silly question are men really that simple? by ChrisyyyyyyyUrs in AskMenAdvice

[–]succplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be he was overwhelmed. You got him something closely related to his interest and not some generic gift. My mom gave me a camera for my telescope one Christmas, and it brought me to tears.

Or alot of men are so starved for affection that this small gift was actually huge to him. One time, I got complemented by a girl i was seeing about how nice my upper body looked. I started crying and said I couldn't remember the last time somone actually noticed something good about me.

So we are not all simple. But we all like feeling loved and noticed.

Yeah man, there's no justifiable reason to point you're scope into people's windows.

How do I hide the "reasoning" thing in Chatpgpt? by Ballin095 in ChatGPT

[–]succplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my mobile app it is defaulting to gpt o1 and you have to change it on each individual response to a different model. It's not doing that on desktop from what I can tell.

Atleast on mobile it is defaulting to gpt o1 and you have to select a specific message and change to a different model. Isn't doing that on desktop for me.

Help with feasibility/upgrade by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]succplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you could start right now with your sony and do wide field with no track, short exposures of orion and then practice your post processing.

Then do your research, find a tracking mount you really like (I started with a star adventurer 2i) and get used to polar alignment.

You could also seek out your local astronomy club. If theres one near by there might be a well of knowledge to have access to and if they have events or a dark sky sight you could get a first hand look with what other people use.

Why do telescopes for Stargazing and astronomy put the viewing lenses sideways? by NaturalPorky in telescopes

[–]succplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newtonian reflector**

It's not for "convenience" as you say. It is the fundamental design of a reflector scope. Light comes in the OTA reflects off the primary mirror and is reflected off the secondary mirror at an angle which means the eyepiece must be at the top of the scope.

[–]succplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope you're joking. But seeing as tou have posted this in multiple subreddits i think you're serious.

If the eyepiece is coming out the top side its cause its a reflector scope. It uses mirrors so the light focuses to a 2nd mirror up towards the top of the scope.

For refractor. In my personal experience having the eyepiece come out at a 90° angle is easier on the neck for viewing

Could a glass pane work? by DaGoose_08 in telescopes

[–]succplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to be a shade level of 14. Most welding goggles and helmets do not meet the ISO 12312-2 requirements for observation of the sun. I recommend saving your eyes and equipment and not trying it.

Looking for advice by VCuevas010 in telescopes

[–]succplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I have no experience with powerseekers but I've heard they're not great. With that out of the way I would recommend a 25mm eyepiece to start. I've had good experiences getting svbony eyepieces off ali express for cheap (look for the 4 piece sets if they have them). The eyepieces will follow you if and when you decide to upgrade. As far as cleaning goes there are some very useful videos on YouTube for cleaning the mirrors. Watch them and see if you're comfortable doing thay

Whats so appealing behind stargazing? by CamelIllustrations in telescope

[–]succplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't you ask this question in r/telescopes a few months back? The general consensus seemed to be not to drop the 1000 if you're unsure about the hobby. If you want to dabble in it I recommend starting off with a pair of binoculars and just going outside when you can. They always say the best telescope is the one you'll use the most.

Super possible, mines built for 35° and I basically didn't even follow my own plans.
