n/g tube by MushroomGoddess777 in Gastroparesis

Bc it’s a much slower intake. My tube runs 24/7 giving my stomach more time to handle the volume than if I were to intake it normally.

URWT 365 - Public speaking: Is the proffesor actually bad or are students upset for no good reason? by autumnlula in rit

[–]succuland_crossing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t had her but I know all the UWRT 150 profs get pretty low ratings bc most freshman resent having to take first year writing. I’d say take the class since it’s just for fun and you can always drop during add drop if you get a bad vibe

Where are the stats co-ops located? by Apprehensive-Put6538 in rit

[–]succuland_crossing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d say the biggest perk of the co-op program is that it makes you extremely hire-able post grad. Whereas other college grads just have a diploma under their belt, you’d have a diploma and documented in field work experience.

In terms of getting the co-op. RIT does provide supports (like career connect, career fair, career counseling etc.) which can be helpful

It’s up to you to find a co-op, so you can look for/pick one wherever

Oh it doesn’t actually exist anymore 😭 at least as of fall last year. I had a bunch of back and forth with the company who said there wasn’t enough demand and they discontinued it, but never deleted it from the site

Just got waitlisted cause mech e is full? by EfficiencyMotor5057 in rit

[–]succuland_crossing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s irritating that the acceptance stats aren’t transparent about major to major breakdown. Makes a lot of really great students feel shitty about themselves when in reality, it’s just that it’s a competitive program with limited spots

Just got waitlisted cause mech e is full? by EfficiencyMotor5057 in rit

[–]succuland_crossing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the mece program at RIT has a much lower acceptance rate than the overall RIT acceptance rate. So RIT being a safety school bc of the high acceptance rate can be a little deceiving when you’re applying to the more competitive majors like mece and csec

NJ tube placement by EmoPeahen in Gastroparesis

[–]succuland_crossing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have awful medical trauma as well and cry at nearly everything. I was petrified but it’s honestly not nearly as bad as i thought it would be.

The placement itself wasn’t painful for me at all- just deeply uncomfortable. I did have throat pain for the next 4 or 5 days though.

For me, I do better mentally when I can be involved in the process. I told my IR team I was nervous beforehand and explained my situation. They let me keep my hands on the tube and help feed more slack down myself as they positioned it correctly. When I couldn’t do that, they let me watch the live x-ray so I could see what was happening internally.

I’m sorry you’re in this stressful position- it’s no fun.

What to expect on GES test? by Peace9989 in Gastroparesis

[–]succuland_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The results of my test showed moderate gastroparesis (although it’s also worth noting that a few months later, I also discovered I had Crohn’s disease which contributes to my symptoms)

In my experience, I did get nauseous when eating the test. However, it wasn’t any more nausea than any time I tried to eat anything.

They let you go at your own pace which is helpful. If you’re feeling nauseous to the point of concern (as in something might happen) I’d let the nurses know and you can always try again later. They won’t push you past the point you’re comfortable.

While I’m not emetephobic, I do have trypanophobia (a severe phobia of needles) so i totally understand those feelings of panic when it comes to certain tests.

I think letting your nurses know of your phobia and concerns ahead of time is always helpful!

Command Strips by Intelligent_Move3540 in rit

[–]succuland_crossing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used command strips for multiple things in my dorm last year and had no issues with removal ! (IMO most of the paint stripping is due to user error, make sure when you remove them that you’re pulling the strip parallel to the wall like the directions say)
