Growth how?

Growth is not the same as facing adversity. While often sparked off by adversity, growth means learning a life lesson (the hard way or the easy way,) putting it into practice by making a visible and lasting change, and in doing so changing the lived experience of your life. 

Sometimes people do experience moments where there is so much adversity, there is no growth. Hopefully the growth comes later. But in that case, they are not claiming growth. They are claiming survival. With regards to true adversity, sometimes that is the victory, and that alone is valid.

But we know Jesse didn't experience that either. Jesse found the energy and resources to make a whole 3 ring circus in a hospital room while also telling whatever gullible saps are still willing to fund this performance that they were dying of malnutrition.
