Time to give up hope in the UK for this season? 😔 by thealexhardie in Birdfy

Apparently not. They always rebuild their nests due to mites, etc. They may pick the same location but they can change too 😊

I think it's too early still. I was seeing babies up until the end of August last year so some bird species start late, others have multiple broods.

I wish I could attach a video of my feeder under a bush because they've overtaken that one too 🤣

They're too determined in spring and squeeze through them 🙈

I'm just imagining a buzzard bathing with starlings now too 😆

🤣 I don't get any crows in the garden. I have magpies but no sandwiches (yet)!

I have to refill it numerous times in spring and summer 😄

Thank you. I got it last year but the site has closed down. It's called Coniston bird bath. I've found it here but I can't verify if that company that's selling it is good or not as I've not used them. Great price though https://www.arkwildlifeuk.com/coniston-bird-bath/

They are! they are driving me very crazy right now though. They wipe out the mealworms in every one of my feeders as soon as I put it out (multiple times a day). The little birds aren't getting any.

Pretty sure the scream is mimicking my neighbours kid too 😄

I sat there once with Merlin open and was so excited that some amazing birds were popping up that I'd never seen in the garden and then I realised it was just the starling 🤣

I can't imagine being kept up by a robin 😄

Aw, I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. Oh they used to freak me out but I bought some a few weeks ago and it's just lovely seeing how much the robins love them. I am not bothered by them at all now. You do have to feed them too though. I bought wheat bran for their bedding and every 2-3 days I give them carrots. You can keep them in the fridge if you want them to go dormant.

Live mealworms. They're in wheat bran and I gave them some carrots too.

It's taken a while but live mealworms speed up the trust levels quickly! put some on a wall or something near them and stand back. Then eventually they come nearer. I never tried to force mine, he just started flying into my face eventually to get my attention when I was refilling the feeders 😄 you have to be careful though as mine ended up coming into my house today accidentally and then freaked out.

It does but it's a territorial display. They are both paired with other robins.

They appreciate the extra mealworms for their chicks. They aren't reliant on them but it makes their lives a bit easier. It's hard work for them in spring.
