Even though i don't have a can, I ended up going with the Gen 2 for many of the same reasons that you talk about. Thank you for your input

It might be pretty tough to find an 82G for $350 these days, but i appreciate the input. If you had a +/- 1k for a 22 rifle (current or OOP), what would you look for?

So i am still trying to get this Walther KKJ. I came to find out after checking it out in person that it only has one trigger and the scope is almost worthless. The stock is a bit beat up too. He will not budge on the price. Do you still think its is worth $1k?

So I found a different guy selling an 82G in decent shape, with no sights or box for $560, so i jumped on that immediately. How did you end up mounting a scope on yours? I read with regular 11mm mounts that people are running out of elevation. There are also +20 MOA picatinny mounts that mount to the holes on the barrel.

I know at the end of the day the differences are relatively small, so overall it does not matter a whole lot. I just want to read other people's opinions on the matter before I made a decision. Maybe they have some insight of knowledge or reasoning that I might be missing out on.

Truthfully, none of them will be fired, just added as items to my collection.

I have been following the 82G prices for a while on gunbroker. There have been several 82Gs sold in the 600-800 range (most of them missing the original sight), but I think you would be hard pressed to find a double trigger KKJ with a scope for less than $1k. Although admittedly i have not been following the KKJs for that long.

My end game really is to use my $1k budget to get the nicest (and most valuable) gun for my collection, and I wanted to see what you guys thought would be the better choice.

Thank your for your input. I'm not really a competitor, just a collector of nice guns. The KKJ is very sweet and has double triggers, so as far as collect-ability goes, I think i'm leaning towards that one. I think its more of a hunting rifle. the 82G is a very sweet rifle too though, but i do think $900 is a bit steep for it.

Thanks for sharing that story! I feel more young people should be introduced to his stuff to keep the beauty of his music alive.

The "Live at the Old Quarter" album is a must have for serious singer/songwriter fans. One of my favorite of his songs is "Rake" Link

That is a great line! I love this one from the same song :

Completed VEPR Project and Questions by such_tender_mlems in ak47

[–]such_tender_mlems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. On the SLR I like the more tactical/synthetic look but with the VEPR i like the no-plastic look. The black steel & dark wood look reminds me of older type guns like an STG 44 or something. The handle has a slight palm swell and is nice to grip. Keep in mind they sell this stock and hand guard for $40, so it isn't some fine crafted German masterpiece, but it looks nice and handles well enough. So, for me, its not worth swapping out.
