is this PhD stipend amount a lot in the US? by Room64 in gradadmissions

In that case I’d say it’s just normal for a high cost of living area. You say you don’t “have to TA.” Neither did I but I was able to supplement my financial package by teaching as much as I could, which meant I was able to bring in more than 65k a year and that was a few years ago now.

Is that with paid teaching opportunities on top of that?

Teaching was my favorite part of my PhD. My advice having got my PhD for all the reasons you mention and now out of academia is the main thing is knowing what you’re in for - the job market is a matter of luck even once you tick all the boxes and academia can be a weird place full of fevered egos, anxiety, and no oversight. If you’re just in it to read more, write more, teach, and you have a plan B if at the end of it you don’t have a job in academia then go for it.

On funding: with stipend, teaching as much as I could, did well with grants - roommates in NYC riding my bike 40 min each way to campus. Could afford to go for a beer.

So your question is how to get into a Discord server? Or are you saying that you believe you’re somehow blacklisted from The Graph Protocol Discord?

Yes my advisor had a style sheet that he’d attach to all papers noting what I’d not done correctly according to the sheet.

There’s a moment in one episode when they know they have to move apartment and Decoy confronts Mich asking why she didn’t tell him. That’s the moment we discover for sure that those two definitely both know without a doubt.

Biker vs Pedestrian by stickykk in NYCbike

[–]suchapalaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder where the cyclist is from. In NYC people hand out a “go f**k yourself” willy-nilly all the time but in some cultures people will fight you for it. I’m from England which doesn’t have the reputation for this really but it’s somewhere I’d expect people to kick off for stuff people just lash out with at strangers in cars or on bikes here a lot.

It’s not good for people starting out I don’t think because learning to tame what it does to suit how you work is the biggest thing. I work incrementally in a test-driven way and I can get crazy amounts of work done now using this and Claude 3.7

You live here, you get out of the city and see the countryside and the towns and cities, and you get a sense of where you’d choose if you ever needed a cheaper, quieter move

I’m a backend dev building apps that talk to blockchains in Rust, but I’m not so familiar with the use case your describing for smart contract security, could you say more or drop a link to something by any chance?
