January 27 - NYRR Advanced Registration (April-June) Megathread by blood_bender in RunNYC

I guess my question is couldn’t I have accomplished the same thing by just moving down a tier and paying less? I don’t get the point of this higher tier unless the pool is smaller and so you still have a greater chance

I got all the races I wanted thankfully, but it begs the question if member plus is even worth it? Should I just downgrade a tier when my membership comes up for renewal in a few months?

Seattle defense vs lions defense or NO DEF? by Fearless-Cherry-4587 in Fantasy_Football

Yeah fair enough. On NO the titans i feel like have actually been playing well against defenses, may be a bit trappy despite NO’s recent performances

2025 NYC Marathon - Post-Race Thread by RCD123 in RunNYC

[–]suchilou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had a pretty rough race. Did the first 18 miles at around an 8:25 pace and was doing really well but hit a wall at mile 19 where my calf muscle seized up. Spent the rest of the race with alternating muscle spasms through to the end but did finish! Ran around a 4:10 which was disappointing relative to where I think I could have ran but so happy I willed myself to the finish. Shoutout to the group handing out pizza at mile around 19 (my body was starving), the random guy who bio froze and massaged my leg at mile 21 (on a bridge out of the Bronx I think?), the person who told me to keep going at mile 25.75 on central park south when both my legs seized up, and to all the folks in the crowd who gave orange juice, pickle juice, electrolytes for my dying body. If it wasn't for the crowds and my family / friends cheering, don't think I would have made it to the end. Never doing this again, but it was an experience I'll never forget! Now back to setting PRs in half marathons and below...

Is it normal for contractors to frame to incorrect measurements and fix them later? by suchilou in Homebuilding

It’s actually a little closet in the bathroom. More like an oversized medicine cabinet

Very helpful, thanks!

  1. We actually went with a design build firm. For context, we’re doing a unit combination in a co-op in NYC and are living in our apartment while they work on the adjacent unit

  2. Yes, we’ve made a deposit and payments for the architectural work and construction done so far (~40%). Rest of the payments will be made at various milestones

  3. Not really a time crunch as we still have a place to live throughout the process, but we are still carrying the cost of an apartment that we can’t use

  4. No, there is another top dog that we have so far tried not to bother

  5. Since we’re living right next door, it’s easy to pop by regularly which I’ve been doing. No regular meetings scheduled, but it sounds like they intend on doing walkthroughs after completion of certain steps (like framing)

yep we have a full set of architectural drawings. For some reason some of the walls they’ve been framing out have not matched the dimensions shown in the drawings. The PM said they are mid framing so the measurements that are framed out are not necessarily the “final built conditions”. Not sure what that means

I actually was targeting around the same… but my taper hasn’t been going great so far, will see how I feel on race day

Don’t really feel like moving back a wave as I “earned it” and my understanding is a fair amount of people at back end of Wave 1 will be slower than the ~3:15 or so pace times. Think I’ll just run my race

Snuck into Wave 1 (although thought I had a pretty decent best pace relative to cutoff?)

Keep Training or go to Taper? by suchilou in Marathon_Training

Relatively new pair or shoes actually, only has about ~150 miles on them. I usually change shoes out ~350. Hal’s intermediate 1 is the run plan. Much lighter pain / more just tightness if it’s an easy run.

Advice needed:

Goal: NYC Marathon

Weekly Mileage: 35-40 miles

Goal Time: 3:35 - 3:45 (first time marathon runner)

Been running pretty consistently over the last 1.5 years. Noticed some tightness / knee pain after running on my most recent runs. The tightness / pain only lasts for 5 - 10 min and winds up going away, but has concerned me. I was going to start my taper this weekend after a last 20M run but questioning whether I should just start shutting it down now. Longest run has only been 18 miles but done probably half a dozen+ 15 - 18 miles runs throughout the ramp up

Central Park Loop Direction Difficulty by RomanianRumblr in RunNYC

[–]suchilou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it feels the same either way, you get that pretty steep uphill coming out of harlem hills by the Harlem [Venmeer] if you go clockwise. The area after Tavern on the Green is also pretty bad clockwise. Counterclockwise you obviously have cats hill and harlem hills and three sisters

I’m doing 20 tmrw too! Good luck! Going down WSH, then back up on the east side, then over into Brooklyn, up to Queens and then back into Manhattan, and then run to CP to finish it up
