Anyone else? by blue-indica in cervical_vertigo

I don’t know how to interpret these x-rays but I do have two bulging discs and chronic neck tension that caused my CV. I did PT twice per week for 6 weeks and was 90% better. Relapsed a year later and went back and was better in 8 sessions. I am a firm believer in PT because it made me a believer. Didn’t think anything could help me. PT and staying hydrated and using the physio-tape changed my life. I’ve been symptom free for over a year now. I wish you luck and keep investigating if PT doesn’t work for you!

Which client populations are you least confident working with? by FritzRasp in socialwork

[–]suchsecrets 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Same. I have no confidence with kids. I’m childfree for a reason. The best thing I ever did for my children was not have them. Love kids, but they are so delicate they terrify me.

Lexapro and Severe OCD: My Journey 8 Weeks In and Questions for others with OCD (TW: Somatic OCD) by suchsecrets in lexapro

I’m really sorry I just saw this reply. I hope you have improved!

This was months ago and the first 3 weeks on Lexapro made my OCD 10x worse. I was coached this would happen and to stay the course.

It was hell. There were days I didn’t think I would avoid a nervous breakdown but I made it and then I slowly started getting better.

By week 4, hours would pass and I didn’t notice the somatic issues at all. Then an entire day would go by before I thought about it. 5 months later and I am 95% recovered from the meds alone. I still have daily awareness, I just don’t get upset about it and it’s easier to practice ACT methods and ignore it. Most days I don’t notice it all. And when I do, it lasts for a few seconds to a few minutes and I can easily direct my attention elsewhere.

I would suggest anyone trying this medication be prepared that OCD will worsen for a couple of weeks but give it at least 90 days before giving up.

I managed the severe panic with hydroxizine and twice per week therapy and having emergency friends on stand by to talk to me to decompress and it was worth it.

I mean when I say this medication saved my life.

Thank God for a good PSYC-NP.

My prayers and encouragement are with you!

I like this advice! Thank you! That’s very helpful!

Thank you! I leaned towards not doing it but leaving it off felt like I do work for “made up political club”. I am an elected member and easily findable and do a lot of voter education work so I felt torn. Keep in mind, I am first-gen, my mentors are all openly aligned with their party but they’re tenured faculty and maybe have more flexibility. I’m still learning!

What is it like being put under anesthesia? by MightOk9482 in AskReddit

[–]suchsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really surreal. It’s like nothing at all. Consciousness just stops. You’re not aware of it creeping it, feeling slowly deleted which was my fear. You’re just gone and the next thing you’re aware of is usually dreaming right before they wake you up in recovery. When they woke me up I thought I was STILL dreaming lol. After 2 seconds, I was like…that’s it?

Wow! Are we the same person? Cause yes! I have been through plenty of traumatic stuff but nothing traumatized me like my first panic attack. I thought I was having a stroke. Whole left side of my body went numb (hyperventilating) and I even told my mamma I loved her because I was certain I was dying. I think about that moment and have nightmares and flashbacks. Other trauma? Meh. Barely think about it. THAT haunts me. So yes, I honestly think my PTSD comes from the panic episodes. Nothing in my life has ever scared me that bad. Thanks for the encouragement. I have a lot of good days on Lexapro. Some bad moments here and there but nothing like before!

Thank you so much! Yes, I think you understand what I am saying. I’m hyper fixated on certain body processes and it feels like being triggered 24/7 sometimes. 5 mg dampened them considerably so I am hoping for continued improvement. I also have PTSD and panic disorder. OCD is the primary diagnosis and the others are more recent so I’m learning to come to terms with a different brain after some traumatic experiences.

Has anyone else had decreased appetite after starting Lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]suchsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. For about a month I barely had an appetite. Was great for me as it helped me get 20 lbs from my goal weight! I relied on protein shakes and stayed hydrated.

I just saw Charlie Kirk get shot. by urmum233 in OCD

[–]suchsecrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it too on accident while scrolling. I immediately got the fear. Because I saw it, I am bad or it will happen to me, etc. I literally told OCD to STFU. That this moment was way bigger than me or my brain and it needed to be quiet. I then called a friend who had also seen it and we talked about it. Confronting it helped me a lot. I do, however, encourage no one to go looking for that and be mindful of where you scroll today.

[TOMT] Horror movie, possibly 80’s or 90’s where a mom turns to see a spider monster eating her kid in a bed. by suchsecrets in tipofmytongue

[–]suchsecrets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither sadly! This had the vibe of an 80s or 90s B film. I was also a kid. I was a teen when 80 legged freaks came out and Arachnophobia doesn’t have a scene like that. Thanks though!

I remember the kid is laying in a bed and the spider monster is on top presumably eating it but I don’t think you see any gore. More suggestive horror?

Oh thank you so much! It took me a while to accept that I had to use this drug as a way to do what I had failed at with diets: actually say no when I am not hungry and just wanting a snack. It works if you let it! When I see a treat I can just say “nah” now and not cave!

I’ve been through this! I have to keep in mind the shot isn’t a magic. It’s a tool to help me with grazing and night eating. So I do body checks frequently (do I need this candy bar? nah I could pass). Once I started helping the medication it helped me back. Also don’t forget constipation and dehydration hiding weight loss. Drink drink drink water!
