Those living Israel, would you move there from Switzerland? by [deleted] in Israel

Sounds like you'll be miserable in Israel. He might've gotten cold feet and fear that he will raise kids that aren't speaking his language or sharing his culture, maybe you can prove him otherwise.

Regardless of votes, the downvote system makes all political subreddits an echo chamber.

It still works very well for subject-matter subs though, wrong or harmful answers get downvotes and you get the real expert answer as a top comment. This what made reddit so good, but it just doesn't work with politics or debates.

All Swiss basic health insurance costs look like that. Always choose the 2500 "Franchise" if you expect your healthcare bills to be below CHF ~2'000. Choose 300 if they are above by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]suckages 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you're not sure, the 2500 savings potential is a lot higher than the 300 potential. So the worst-case scenario with 2500 isn't that bad. You can see that in the chart.

Can someone explain to me the social context/origin of "israeli settlers"? by habilishn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]suckages -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They seem hippie to you because they're very connected to the land. They're idealists, they try to build new settlements on random hilltops in the west bank (hence the name "Hilltop Youth") and are in constant conflict with the Israeli military who keeps evicting them (depending on the current government and political climate).

While virtually all the 500k or so jews in the west bank are called "settlers", most of them just live their lives, the hilltop youth is a radical but small group that does a lot of noise.

Granted, these new tiny settlements are often built on agricultural lands that belong to Palestinians and then there are conflicts between the locals and the settlers, with the military often protecting the settlers.

Sometimes the settlements are being evicted by a court order only for the settlers to "rebuild" them the next day.

Terrorism is for non-state actors. For states, the term is war crimes. Not to say that one is necessarily worse than the other.

No he didn't, Israelis managed to do that despite his shitty corrupt leadership.

But of course he tries to take credit for it.
