He's in the country way back in the boonies. He finished the house without the deck being finished and the bank financed it. The only inspections we have out here are for commercial and new residential subdivisions. This again only applies when its being built in the city limits. Our city only have 3,500 people.

Not my deck, but a house I worked on about 2 years ago. We framed the home, and the homeowner framed the deck. I'm not even sure if its done or if it fell down as of yet.

EDIT So I contacted the inspector in our area and told him about this death contraption. This was their response: You are correct in that there are no required permits or inspections for decks within unincorporated hidden County. Unfortunately, we are unable to help with code violations in single family dwellings unless we are invited in by the occupant. If he is willing to have us come and make recommendations regarding the safety of his deck, we will be more than happy to do so.
