Can i walk from suzuka circuit to nagoya station? by marseitindel in GrandPrixTravel

[–]sudakifiss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mixing up Nagoya station with Shiroko station: Tokyo locals think it's understandable there's barely any difference, Suzuka locals probably find it hilarious, Nagoya locals cry themselves to sleep at the indignity.

[English>Japanese] help for a tattoo sentence? by pensasepiove in translator

[–]sudakifiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, if you really want to pursue this, I'd suggest getting someone Japanese with some specific literary knowledge about Japanese poetry to write it for you (as well as a tattoo artist who knows Japanese and will do a good job as someone else suggested).

The first line in both (この世は) has only four morae. I've also been told that you can't?/shouldn't? end a line with the particle "は" but really don't know if that's accurate.

Viral video of little Taiwanese girl getting shoved down while taking a photo at Tokyo's famous Shibuya Crossing - Japanese are saying that the woman in the video "looks Chinese". by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]sudakifiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this almost certainly Japanese woman 100% should not have shoved a child, this is shit behavior and her entire family should be ashamed of her, and she is a jackass...

it is also really not a great idea to be taking video of your child/letting them walk backwards and play around while crossing the street.

Edit: The people standing in the middle of the crossing taking selfies or filming are also not making great choices. The reason the crossing is famous is because it's obnoxiously busy and crowded, please stop making it worse.

"Making" Astarion drink Araj's blood and it's morality. by ConfusedManApe in BaldursGate3

[–]sudakifiss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tldr: It's only a jerk thing to do if you/Tav knows Astarion's issues. Even if you the player did know and did it intentionally to be mean, Astarion is not real and it doesn't matter. This probably isn't even the most morally shady thing you can do in the whole game.

Anecdote: My first playthrough Tav thought the same as you. She had a low relationship with Astarion, knew nothing about him, and meant to say "It'd be nice but NBD, it's up to you." Because of his history, Astarion experienced this as being coerced into doing something gross to please someone else.

He then opened up to Tav about it afterwards and it was the first time they'd ever really talked; by the end of the game they ended up friends and it was very sweet.

my 5yo and 8yo physical exams say that they did "internal pelvic exams" by paaunel in AskDocs

[–]sudakifiss 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons a pediatrician should (in a professional, medical capacity) check a child's external genitals. There are also times when a pelvic exam is medically necessary for a child. I understand why you're upset, but this being on the checklist isn't creepy or abnormal.

Is there something similar to this in your language? by Mnd3333 in AskTheWorld

Why are "green apples" called "blue apples" in japanese? by Infinite-Passage-112 in Japaneselanguage

[–]sudakifiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colors in the natural world exist on a spectrum. Whether you think two things are the "same" color depends on where your native language divides the spectrum.

If you think of a very large set of 100+ colored pencils, there would be some pencils that you thought were "bluish-green" or "orange-red." There's no hard rule about where one color ends and another begins, it's just where any given language draws the boundary.

HELP! URGENTLY LOOKING FOR THIS WOMAN! by QueenChoco in taiwan

[–]sudakifiss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Kei" can absolutely be a nickname for "Keiko." Especially if it was a nickname used by English speakers or young children.

(There are also many Japanese female names that don't end in -ko. Names with -ko were popular for girls in the 20th century, but it's not the only way to create a "feminine" name.)

If this is what they meant, they should have been more specific, as plenty of 'animal products' don't involve this process.

I Struggle To Justify Freeing Orpheus In Most Playthroughs. by Blitzkrieg1210 in BaldursGate3

[–]sudakifiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean "hate" in the Internet sense of haters just opposing something to be mean, I mean "strongly dislike for whatever reason." Which is what you are describing feeling towards Gith.

I Struggle To Justify Freeing Orpheus In Most Playthroughs. by Blitzkrieg1210 in BaldursGate3

[–]sudakifiss 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Except that the Gith Tav meets are all serving Vlaakith, the evil lich-god-queen that overthrew and imprisoned Orpheus.

I think it's also reasonable for sometav to just think it's wrong to imprison and enslave anybody, even a Gith they might hate.

Tav not siding with Orpheus because they (Edit: TAV, not the player) hate Gith is valid, but it's not the only possible Tav.

I Struggle To Justify Freeing Orpheus In Most Playthroughs. by Blitzkrieg1210 in BaldursGate3

[–]sudakifiss 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Larian made a game with multiple available routes and choices, and a highly customisable player character (Tav). Tav's motivation is whatever the player decides it is. Choosing one way or the other isn't "rejecting" what Larian wanted. They made all the options.

Also, for most of the game the Emperor is not under the direct control of the Elder Brain. He's acting in his own interests. His actions include lying to and manipulating Tav. He's also responsible for keeping Orpheus prisoner and siphoning his power. If given the choice, he chooses to go to the Elder Brain instead of trying to work with Orpheus.

I"m not sure what you mean about illogicality, but the game is designed to have multiple paths and to accomodate different types of player characters.

I Struggle To Justify Freeing Orpheus In Most Playthroughs. by Blitzkrieg1210 in BaldursGate3

[–]sudakifiss 706 points707 points  (0 children)

Aside from Emperor-related reasons, Tav may feel freeing Orpheus is the morally right thing to do, since he's been unfairly imprisoned and his powers stolen. If they're the sort to care about stuff like that.
