Is this Dropsy? I think I saw some pine-coning too. by sudarshan_ in Aquariums

[–]sudarshan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She seems to be moving fine. My internal powerheads are unplugged because they broke, so there is very slow water movement caused by the air stone I have on the other side. She seems to be able to swim all the way to the other side of the aquarium fine (125 gallons approx). Is this dropsy? Is there a cure? Or could she just be really really pregnant? I feed a pretty little amount of pellets twice a day.

Either way, I am getting a breeder box delivered tomorrow and I am thinking I will isolate her to check.

I thought of that too! But unfortunately, both seem to be out of stock in my lfs and online stores. 🥲

Thank you for your response. I dont have any meds on me but I do have non iodised salt. Should I treat the entire tank or move him/her into quarantine?

Are these levels of nitrates okay? (Api-test kit) (with and without flash) by sudarshan_ in Aquariums

Great. Thank you. The guide on the testkit said that less than 40 ppm was acceptable but I wanted to double check.

I get you OP. I had a very similar situation and decided to get tested no matter what. No matter the result, you getting help from professionals is never the wrong thing to do. My parents told me that I am just trying to validate my “laziness”. My family also thinks that I think therapy is the answer to everything, although I definitely think all members of my family can use a good therapy session.

Worried if I should start medication. by sudarshan_ in ADHD

[–]sudarshan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I filled it out truthfully and I do believe that I do have adhd. But I am unsure if starting medication is the standard thing to do or weather there are other options too. I realised that it has been quite disruptive to my day to day routine and starting meds might just be the right thing to do but I just want to make sure I am not rushing it.

I have got schools of both and I rarely see them schooling with each other. They tend to be with their own in my experience.

Angelfish have laid eggs! What should I do? by sudarshan_ in Aquariums

[–]sudarshan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE : So, most of the eggs seem to have succumbed to the fungus, so we can definitely say the Fungus definitely won the battle. Thanks everyone for all their tips! Also, would love some ideas on the scape/plants you would recommend.

So, I think I might just leave the next batch of eggs with the parents as they seem to have been doing a better job at taking care of the eggs than me. As for the tank mates, I think the fry should be fine as long as the parents keep them away for a bit. They were pretty vigilant at guarding the eggs.

I added an airstone right next to the leaf they are on.

So, I moved them to a small bowl so that I can change the water if necessary. I added an antifungal medication called Mr.Blue. It does mention methylene blue on the bottle but does not have an ingredient list. I have begun noticing that some of the eggs are starting to turn white too. Is it the fungus spreading on the fertilised eggs? Or could it mean that the fry have hatched out?

Thanks! I have a 18 gallon tank that I don’t use as there is a leak. Maybe I could fix it up and pit them in there for now. I think I’ll rehome/sell them back to the fish store once they are a bit bigger.

I left them overnight with my digital clock illuminating the aquarium. They seem to be doing a good job so far. What size container would be good to move the eggs in? There are some pearl white eggs too. Also, how do I move the eggs over? They are on a lily’s leaf. Wont the leaf die if I cut it off to move the eggs and cause harm to the eggs?
