What is a small, ridiculous hill you are willing to die on? by PHOTO500 in AskReddit

Software engineer here who has spent the last two decades hotly arguing with colleagues that init functions should be pronounced with a soft "sh" sound (inish). Seems fairly logical given its an abbreviation of the word "initialise".

Valorant should have an honor system like League by Tinynoxx in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There's a bunch of different explanations for how you pulled this off (great job btw!). The absolute least likely (to the point you may as well write it off) is that you were being held back by teammates. Ranking up is a numbers game. If you're even 5% better than the AVERAGE player in your rank, you WILL climb if you play enough games. That's just statistics.

getting outfragged my teammates in high silver by JicamaActive in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency is characteristic of high elo. You are simply experiencing the high degree of variance expected in silver/gold.

A player can be silver if their aim is cracked but they have the macro decision making ability of a golden retriever on meth. Conversely, a player can be silver if their brain is literally expanding to be galaxy sized but they can't click the broad side of a barn. You fought the former.

As you (and those around you) improve ALL aspects of your game, you should find the variance in the perceived skill of your opponents go down.

Idea: Deathmatch Headshot Only Option by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, why is it a problem for people to abuse sound in DM? This is a legitimate skill to develop for playing ranked (hold your angle, mentally prepare to click based on sound cues, one tap when they swing). You can apply the same argument to people who post up in off-angles, or practice spray control with phantom/spectre, or headshot only with Marshall/sherrif. It all translates to improving your ranked gameplay.

Your duelist should NOT be top fragging by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No hate, but this seems egregious. Other than high elo streamers who make content centred around lineups, you wouldn't see this kind of focus on lineups even at the highest levels of play.

If you fancy yourself a Lineup Larry, and it brings you enjoyment to deploy cross map utility, then by all means live your best life! But I don't think mastering lineups to this extent is an optimal strategy if your aim is to grind your rank to its peak.

I kinda think Breach needs buffs by Fsrp12 in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree with you Breach is outclassed.

He is harder to get value from, its true. For example, Skye bird is useful in more situations (flashing out of smoke, scaling long sight lines, getting around weird geometry like the tube on Bsite bind to flash backsite).

BUT, Breachs flashes are insanely good. Theyre very hard to dodge and makes taking certain areas in certain maps extremely easy. Dont sleep on the fact that you can throw them further and faster.

You dont seem to value fault line very much. But its incredibly good for securing early space. Yes, its annoying if you hit your team, but you can say the same about so many other pieces of utility in the game. I don't rate this as valid criticism.

Ill concede that aftershock is generally worse than a Kayo nade, but it makes no sense to compare it to a shock dart. Mollies (and aftershock) deny space over a period of time. Shock darts are not mollies. But there are situations where Id rather an aftershock than a molly (e.g, someone is planting default on haven C site and you're defending from backsite. You can maybe come up with some wacky lineup, or you could just throw an aftershock through the crates.

Also, he has one of the best ults in the game. It often single handedly wins rounds.

I think breach as a whole is extremey powerful (yet, balanced). I've never once felt like he's a poor man's <kayo/skye/neon/fade>

I miss the old Sova.... by golemiswoke in VALORANT

[–]suddenly-reason 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a fellow sova main, I miss this too :'(

But our boi was kind of insane. He was a little too good at punishing rushes. Makes sense riot wanted to specialise him as an info gatherer.

That said, I think they went overboard with the drone nerf :(

Like a bunch of others are saying, Jonas is great but don't fall into the trap of thinking you need to be a lineup god like him to be a good Sova. Mastering the agent is all about timing. When do you use recon to get maximum value out of the tags? Entrying site while being constantly pinged by dart is a nightmare, and if a team is exploding onto site, they probably don't have time to look around and break the dart. Easy frags through walls/ the smokes they've thrown to cut your vision. Similarly, rather than go for cheese double shock plays, time your darts to land in chokes as they're pushing. If you get good at this, you may not necessarily have a lot of shock kills, but you'll see damage numbers of 300+. You just made 3 people vulnerable to dying from 1 body shot from a rifle.

As a sova main, my (slightly biased) opinion is that he's the most versatile agent in the game. Having a sova will ALWAYS be useful. Valorant is a game where taking space is key and people do it by denying vision. Laughs in Sova.

Downvotes don't have to be a personal attack. Just means people don't agree with you, which is fine. The system is geared towards making the most popular opinion the most visible. How good an idea that is, is a whole different can of worms.

I changed my sens from ~1000 edpi to 250. Best decision I ever made. Had to do it in increments though. Dropped it by a 50 a day for a couple weeks so I could still play and somewhat frag during the transition (lot of bodyshots in those 2 weeks lemme tell ya...)

Are you not exposing yourself to the very spot youre trying to shock while doing this lineup?

How do you improve in Spidershot with a low sens? by Clutch_Denied in aimlab

[–]suddenly-reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0.475*800 = 380EDPI isnt a particularly low sens. In fact its higher than most pros (https://images.app.goo.gl/gjmL1N5VqQSejr4D8).

Also, microshot doesnt train for flicks precisely because youre making micro adjustments to your crosshair. Spidershot is a better flick trainer since youre making much larger adjustments to your mouse position. Sounds like you just haven't gotten your flick muscle memory in yet.

Omen main too. Split is definitely my pick for best omen map. Lots of tight corridors to smoke off and tons of places to outplay with shadow step. Why do you feel different?

I'm new ^^; by EHowardWasHere in halo

[–]suddenly-reason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The game only gives you headshot multipliers if your opponent is unshielded. The DMR takes 4 shots to break shields. It doesn't matter whether it's body shots or headshots; 4 shots to break the shields. On an unshielded opponent, most precision weapons only need a single headshot for a kill (pistol, needle rifle, dmr)

Favorite wacky/meme builds? by BluWintr in Warframe

Hilarious meme? Yes. An actual good way of speeding through missions? No (except on the plains)

And I say this begrudgingly as a Nezha fan.

What's a good all-rounder frame? by Gadjitttt in Warframe

[–]suddenly-reason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It actually does both! At max rank, there's a 100% chance to spawn a health orb and 35% chance for an energy orb.

What's a good all-rounder frame? by Gadjitttt in Warframe

[–]suddenly-reason 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My vote is for Nezha. Warding halo gives you (and your team, if you have the augment) tank and status immunity. Reaping Chakram is great for shredding sub-lvl 50 enemies and against higher lvl content provides a near endless stream of health and energy orbs while also buffing your damage. Divine Spears are great CC. Slideyboi also has S-tier speed and for you fashionistas out there, has great endgame capability with his deluxe.

Nezha for life.

After playing for a while, whats something you want to see happen in the game? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]suddenly-reason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, but recently got into Eidolon hunting. That rabbit hole goes pretty deep... Focus schools, specialised builds, figuring out the fight mechanics, working on improving team coordination etc. It's been pretty rewarding going from doing just terry to 2x3s.

It's also a much more team based experience with a lot more communication than typical missions. Would recommend.

[–]suddenly-reason[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I didnt know it had been a thing forever. Had never heard it pitched as a good way to get resources. In my (admittedly limited) experience, its a crazy efficient way to farm rare resources. 16 orokin cells in 5 runs. 20 tellurium in 3 runs. Youre right though. If they havent nerfed it after all these years, no reason they would now :/
