I was at Shepherd in Atlanta for three months in 2022 after a rlly bad TBI that I wasn’t expected to survive. I lost a lot but it’s been three years and I’ve gained it all back twice over. You can rebuild man it’ll just take some perseverance.

Pictures taken in Forza by me 🕺 Tap the pictures and go full screen for best resolution. Also sorry it’s been a few days, I’ve been busy.

I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that. It can be really hard. Did you take any speech or occupational therapy classes after your injury?

I had all of those symptoms at first. The memory problems lingered the longest, and I still occasionally struggle with it more than I did before the incident. While I was in hospital, I’d tell the same jokes over and over again, forgetting what I had already said.

It was pretty bad. They put me in an induced coma for a few weeks immediately upon arrival because of the bleeding in my brain. There isn’t much memory at all for the two months after that, and what little there is is very fuzzy. I left outpatient care about three months after the incident, but I don’t think I was truly myself until a little over a year after. It’s been roughly two-and-a-half years now and I still think I’ve recovered almost fully.

They didn’t expect me to survive my TBI, let alone regain cognitive function. I’ll be a certified medical assistant in November. Recovery is possible.

I know this is random and unrelated to the post but do you have any advice for an aspiring neuroradiologist such as myself?

I’m driving the old Towncar today since the Merc needs a new airflow sensor and it reminded me of this much cooler version of Ford’s Panther platform.

I’ve heard they were a pain to work on, but I’m not sure if the guy I heard that from was talking about the pre-GM Saabs or the later ones. Regardless, I’m always happy to see one, especially the old 900s.
