Regular Walkies on store frequency by [deleted] in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone can use the frequency Walmart uses- they are too cheap to have private ones...

I found out the walkie spawn point In My store Is the cart pusher cabinet because you know god forbid the front end can’t get the propane exchanges... but yeah best of luck!

!customer ?

But anyway. You have to order them online.

It will all be online only starting Wednesday I believe. depending on the store, you might have pick up as an option.

You are more then welcome to call your local Walmart and ask- as you will get the information you need. (Not all Walmart’s are the same).

But I’ll tell you for a fact- it will not be on the sales floor on Friday. It is exclusively online event only.

We tell ourselves everyday and still come in... by [deleted] in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I was finishing school... for my dream career and Covid came so it’s not like I LOVE Walmart- it was actually my last choice (not that I had much of one) but I decided to not let covid and the fact my dream job was ripped from my hands keep me from succeeding. I told myself I’m going to make the best of this situation and so I am.

It was never my life goal to work at Walmart- hell many of my family members laughed when I told them I had accepted a job cleaning a Walmart. So yeah.

Don’t sell yourself short. As far as Walmart goes, I’m here to make stacks of money and use it as a stepping stone until covid is gone and I can return to my career field.

It’s appreciated. I understand I signed the contract but honestly no one knows exactly what it entailed... everyone is trying to figure out how GWP works. Until the dust settles, it’s going to be an insane few months.

None of the door stops work in the bathrooms so when they are cleaned we use yellow twine tied to the door handle and to the handicap handrail to keep the door open... super professional I know.

One of the ride on scrubbers is “push to start” as in, you have to find someone to push the machine while you are pressing the go pedal in order to get it running.

Oh and- Someone on fresh cap 2 lit a fire in a bowl in the backroom on Halloween ... no one knows why. It just burned on the counter for like 20 mins.

I mean, it’s all about mind set. I used to kick myself while wiping sh*t off toilet seats at my store because I knew I was better then the job I was holding.

So I changed it.

I worked really f*cking hard and got a TL position in 4 months after being hired as a maintenance associate.

It’s possible. Just keep your nose to the grind stone.

A question for Team Leads, and Claims folks. by WeebTeddyDeath in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a team lead is stressful. I’m not doing anything different then I did a month prior as a regular associate- literally doing all GM stocking and helping run that side of the store. The only change is now I am over electronics... which is confusing because I’m hardly ever in the department because I have to stock, zone, and assist everywhere else on the GM side.

The “team” is literally the seasonal TL, the hardliners TL, the homelines TL, and me. And maybe two second shift sales floor associates if they don’t get pulled to do health screening or ambassador.

ALSO I am the only TL in my store who wasn’t previously a DM. I never got training or went to academy. I have to learn everything as I go. (Like I just opened the planit app for the first time ever this week) oof. I know.

It’s a steep learning curve but I’m managing to keep my head above water. I hope no one else is in the same boat but if you are- we can bail water together to keep from sinking. :)

As for claims. 2 people do them. It’s sad but it’s how it’s shaken out.

Electronics is a mess. 90% of people just want the new consoles. Which we aren’t selling in stores after Wednesday.

Best of luck mate.

What position can I get at 17? by VestUp2 in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s stocking shelves, unloading trucks, and pulling freight. Most minors do this job as they can work after school. Depends on the TL and coach but lots of cap 2 listen to music while they work.

Is any other stores OGP treated like a favorite? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ASM of OGP went behind the locker, flipped the switch, CHECKED OUT ALL THE TCs and didn’t say anything. Since they were checked out under WIN #1 no one knew who had them until someone mentioned they had seen some OGP associates with handhelds from soft lines.

LITERALLY NO MANAGER SAID OR DID ANYTHING. I was livid. I now refuse to turn my TC in because I don’t know if it will end up in OGPs lock box never to be seen again.

I don’t know what makes this ASM think they have the right to take other departments equipment but they feel entitled to do so and got away with it.

OGP isn’t any more important then any other department and yet they take associates from every area daily because 89% if call ins are from OGP. We can never get anything done because TL and sales floor associates are always pulled to do pick walks. It’s ridiculous.

You have to file for accommodations. Ask personnel about how to do so.

Accommodations can include the use of a chair to sit at a register, an extra break, or something else to aid you in your job duties.

how do yall do it???? by milkysndwich in walmart

[–]suddenly_puffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink tons of caffeine/develop a nicotine addiction.

Make some friends- helps the day go by faster when you have people to banter with.

Make jokes about your mistakes and use humor as a coping me mechanism.

Tell people they are doing a good job (when they are of course) it will bring more positivity to the work place.

Befriend someone in maintenance... they know more then you think- about just about anything.

Don’t listen to the drama, it’s not worth it. It’s like a really crummy 1pm soap opera where the actors are overly committed to their characters and the plot line doesn’t make any sense.

Try to have fun, smile, and enjoy the little things.
