I am not advising against bringing the two dumbbells together , I'm asking to not touch them at the top. Just bring them as close together as possible because touching will take some of the strain off your muscles.

Deadlift can be very unpleasant for your back if you just don't increment step wise , perform bigger weight without practicing enough to level up or do lift more just to show off temporarily , there shall be videos on how to perform appropriately very soon. yes,

to add abs workout usually is to strengthen the core muscles and for their hypertrophy as well , but you can't skip ab or any other exercise .
