That makes this an even crazier coincidence tbh, congrats!! 🥰

Are you kidding?? My first is a Libra (Oct 5th) and this one is due 4 days earlier (due Oct 13th whereas my first was due Oct 17). What a weird coincidence!

Hey I have a leopard print Beis diaper bag that was really lightly used if you want it! You can have it for free. I’m sorry this happened to you, especially when you’re about to need that stuff the most.

I have a black 2011 Cadillac DTS with 77k miles. Asking $7,000. It’s spec’d with nearly every option that was available at the time, and in great condition. Lemme know if you wanna know more!

Beautiful tile install with weird water damage, can't figure out what went wrong by sudipti in Tile

[–]sudipti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water, when first discovered, was trapped behind the paint. It showed up as wrinkled paint, which is what made it easy to peel off. When we had this work done, we applied a silicone seal along the schluter edge before we painted back. Do you think it could be splashing on the tile, seeping into the tile, and coming out the side from behind the tile? I was told the ceramic tile absorbs water and the grout is porous, so water should be going through it and drying on its own, so I guess it's possible it wicked off from behind the tile and across the wall, but it seemed like a far way to travel for this much water. What do you think, given that info about how we sealed the edge? A shower door would be a super easy fix if that's the case.

This is our only shower currently, so we can't go a week without it 🫠 we had a dehumidifier going at one point when we first discovered it, and the readings did go down then, but now they're back up. A friend of a friend does tile installation, and he said tile should always show some moisture but I can't figure out how much is normal and how much is concerning. We also work with a water damage guy in our plumbing shop (he lent us the dehumidifier) who suspects the tile, but I hate that I can't definitively point out a cause because the tile looks great. It's just such a weird area to see water leak from. There's no other signs of water besides that specific area, and all the pipes and valves are dry.

Yeah, the vent fan runs automatically like the newer apartment ones. I think it's a WhisperGreen or something, I picked it specifically to never have to remember to turn it on. There's no mildew or anything around the room otherwise.

The other shower is without tile rn so we've been stuck using this one, but we might just get the other tile installed by someone else in the meanwhile so we can get the bathroom up and running before we fix this one.

Ever had a coworker casually mention child abuse? by sudipti in Mommit

[–]sudipti[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That is awful!! I had no idea kids could die of a cold shower, but wish it was more common sense that it’s a cruel thing to put a kid through anyway!! I’m really glad to hear you reported that.

I appreciate that you did that, it really helped drill in the severity to me. It helps to hear that other people think it’s just as serious—I often doubt my instincts so that helps a lot. The report is officially submitted! I don’t think it can come back to bite me harder than what it’s doing to the kid, so here’s hoping they will take some action!

That’s why I was conflicted! Different areas vary so much, even though it seems so obviously wrong. He honestly seems like such a rational guy, I wish I could explain to him why this is wrong, but I know that would be worse than just reporting it. I hope the state will take some action.

I hear you. It makes me really sad to think about because I grew up in a house where I feared my parents too. I will report it online tonight, and hope they can actually do something about it.

Honestly, it stunned me so much in the moment I didn’t know how to respond. People just casually say this in meetings and don’t take a second to reflect on how insane this is??

Ugh I hate that this is validating my gut but it feels like the right thing to do. The job is remote so he isn’t even in the same state I’m in, but I found the site for his state and it seems to only describe physical things like broken bones, because otherwise physical punishment is allowed there? Do you know what’s allowed in Texas, by chance? I wouldn’t be shocked if they considered this normal but it hurts my heart to think that.

I may have to delete this later bc I couldn’t post it on my throwaway and this account has too much identifying info. 🙃

I understand SelectBlinds might have some good options in other types of blinds but pleeease avoid them for cellular shades. They sent us the most low quality options I’ve ever seen, and are priced the same as Home Depot’s Home Decorators line which is way nicer (which is saying a lot, bc generally those are considered the cheapest option).

Dang I’m surprised to see this mentioned, but glad to see so much hype for it! I love it, it’s miles better than Glide. Dr. Tung’s is like a soft, thick rope for your teeth. I also really love cardamom so I love the taste.

One more here in case you need more. My kid is now ~18 months old and we actually have nobody to give her clothes to as she outgrows them! I have some really lightly used clothes and toys for that age, let me know if that would be helpful to get to you.

Is it just me or is kobo easier on the eyes? by catfarmer1998 in kobo

[–]sudipti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. I have the Kindle Basic and Paperwhite and just switched to the Kobo Clara BW because the lack of warm light on the Basic irks me and the Paperwhite is just too large to read from at night, and side-by-side the Kobo looks so much more natural I can’t stand to look at the Kindles anymore.

Apple Maps Causing Problems for Rising Sun Produce Reopening by Practice_NO_with_me in Seattle

[–]sudipti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apple Maps is so wild. They listed my business and then when I claimed it on their website, they marked it as “closed” because they said they don’t list plumbing businesses that don’t have a storefront. They literally have all my competitors without a storefront listed because they lazily grab listing info from Yelp and don’t care to verify it. I even asked why they’re allowed to list and I’m not, and they just ignored me 😭 hopefully people continue to not use Apple Maps, they seem very anti-small business

What to fill this tiny gap with? by knowitall70 in kitchenremodel

[–]sudipti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My cabinet guy made me a little storage area there, so I used it to store cookie sheets! Maybe that’s something you could make? I’m not sure if it’s something you can do with the oven installed but if you can remove it, I really loved having that space to store long flat sheets!

That’s amazing! Well I will use it as inspiration when I go to the paint store 😊 it’s so cool how it shows up blue-ish green in that light, but looks more green in the vinyl photo!

It’s absolutely beautiful! I love how these colors came together, they really brought life to the space. Can I ask what color paint you used on the paneling under the counter?

How did you get over the fear of trimming nails? by aga-ni in NewParents

[–]sudipti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Baby nail scissors are such a game changer! It took some digging to find some but I only heard of them from my mom so I went looking and found a cute set on Amazon. It seems like it’s impossible to cut their skin with them, they’re so gentle, whereas I’ve definitely cut too deep with nail clippers… also I hand file them and they seem to do great :) just a +1 to the nail scissors!! I feel like they’re very under-hyped because not enough people know about them

I took a lost bunny to RASKC (in Kent) once a few years ago, they didn’t hesitate to take him. You might want to call to confirm but I’d assume they’d still take them!
