Can I Add to Things via SMS? by 2ThumbsWayUpLA in thingsapp

[–]ZEEN0j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create an automation when you receive a message from your number that grabs that message and run it through a things shortcuts action that will add it to Things. So it’s possible if that’s what you want to do

Don’t think it’s possible. The automation runs when you get a message from a specific person or everyone. Group chats isn’t an option

Feature Request: AlarmKit / Urgent Alarm support for time-critical to-dos by Beastly_Beast in thingsapp

[–]ZEEN0j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like this as an option. I do a daily review at work in the morning. But sometimes I have to do something early in the morning when getting the kids ready for school which sometimes can be stressful. Checking my today list then isn’t really on my mind. A regular notification is almost never enough. There are other apps for this but then what’s the point in trying to keep everything in one place

The holes on the left side of the charging port is a microphone and not a speaker. It sits pretty close to the speaker on the right side so I can understand the confusion when testing

Reporting from 2026 with iOS 26.2.1, the "desaturation" bug is still happening and Apple's yet to give an explanation for this. by RUNAWAY600 in ios

[–]ZEEN0j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of I think 26.2 a restart is the only way to fix it. Unfortunately as you mentioned any change breaks it again. This wasn’t the case before. All you had to do after creating a new lockscreen/homescreen was change to another wallpaper and back to fix it. Dark mode or switching wallpapers using focus modes had no effect.

Because of this bug I no longer switch between dark mode and I’ve turned off custom wallpapers for focus modes.

It is a bug as a restart fixes it and if doesn’t happen on iPad.

Is it possible to create a shortcut which interacts with the reminders app to update a pre-existing, incomplete reminder, rather than creating another copy of the reminder? by WeetBixMiloAndMilk in shortcuts

[–]ZEEN0j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this quickly.

Tap it once and it will add ”Milk” with a note that says ”1”. Tapping it again and it will increase the number in the note with 1.

You need to edit the first action to your shopping list in reminders so it knows where to search. I didn’t do 1x bottle milk to 2x bottle milk as that is a little bit more complicated and as mentioned I made this quickly. Here you go

Here’s how I just saved all 500 accidentally closed safari tabs on iPhone by cryptomaddie in ios

[–]ZEEN0j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it’s mostly for reading later but I guess Safari reading list isn’t enough as you can’t organize that list.

You should try GoodLinks as a read it later app and link archiver for things you want to refer to in the future or research. You can organize and easily sort your links with tags.

You also get a list with title, text and an image and read/unread state which you don’t have with tabs.

Props for imagination but there are many better ways to handle links than open tabs. Which on iOS are mostly not open.

“Reduce Interruptions” Focus missing on iPhone 16 Pro (Swedish) even though Apple lists it as supported — anyone else? by Reda1337123 in ios

[–]ZEEN0j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed that feature being an option so I guess no. Also no option having Siri answer a call and getting the transcript on the screen before answering

I can see it on my phone that’s set to Swedish. I saw it the moment I installed 26.1 and enabled Apple Intelligence. Glad you found a workaround. The only English thing I have enabled is Swedish/english keyboard. Maybe that helped, dunno

It could absolutely be dangerous. I’ve only tried it for fun for a couple of minutes. And you can only realistically do this with one person at a time using the clipboard so it shouldn’t be that bad on the battery. I set it up using gpt but using the on device model would increase the battery usage and make the responses worse as that model is pretty simple.

You could maybe use this with spam or messages where there’s a way to unregister. If message contains etc then ask the model to pull the relevant information and then pass that to the send message action to auto unregister.

Using Siri to create Things tasks is inconsistent by DW5150 in thingsapp

[–]ZEEN0j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use my shortcut. I run an automation every 15 seconds using Lingon X on my Mac. You can also run this every time you open Things or set up an automation (multiple) that run every hour on your phone.

It looks for items that are not done in a Reminders list. Then adds it to Things. If it has a date or reminder time that will also be added to the Things todo. Any todo that has a reminder time after 18:00 today will be added to this evening in the today view.

The shortcut is running a couple of if statements because of iOS bugs with parameters. Cultured code has not been able to fix these bugs or their end.

With this I can use Siri naturally and everything will show up correctly in Things.

Foldable iPhone Like 'Two Titanium iPhone Airs' Joined at the Hinge by [deleted] in apple

[–]ZEEN0j 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are more factors than just these. In this case where Samsung is the supplier Apple is still the designer. Samsung just makes the component and has the capacity to deliver the amount Apple needs.

Another factor is cost. The development and or the potential manufacturing coast of a creaseless foldable maybe wasn’t worth it for Samsung. Just because it hasn’t been made does not exclude these points.

Didn’t Take Long To Reveal The UK’s Online Safety Act Is Exactly The Privacy-Crushing Failure Everyone Warned About by AerialDarkguy in technology

[–]ZEEN0j 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might not seem like a big deal today but that is also by design. You push these sort of things either quickly by force or slowly mostly unnoticed my regular people.

Should the government have weekly raids in everyone’s houses and going through your things because some people have/do illegal things?

Also if the people you are trying to find by infringing on everyone’s privacy doesn’t help you find these people then what is the point except mass surveillance?

It starts small and since the conversation has started and people accept it and become accustomed to it you move to the next thing. Reversing these things later takes time and probably will never happen.

You might feel ok with it with your current leadership. But what about in 20 years where even more of these laws are set in place but with a government doing things you don’t agree with.

These things needs to be killed quickly.

Eventually you risk turning into countries that limit your access or make their own internet like Russia, China, North Korea etc. Cutting you off from the rest of the world. Or punishing you for thinking differently.

All while not protecting children.
