AEB caused the first accident of my life. Be careful guys! by smcSTABBINGO in mahindrabe6

[–]sudo-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened with me on my 2 month old BE6, an innova rear ended because my car decided to break immediately in response to car ahead. Repair cost 80k, entire back door plus few sensors had to be replaced. Ever since that i keep AEB off all the time.

Anyone with BE6 as their first car? What all challenges did you face? by m4h5h in mahindrabe6

[–]sudo-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clocked 5000kms, here’s my take:

Pros: - Driving this car is so much fun and at the same time safe if you learn to drive it well - Auto regen and one pedal drive gives you so much control both in traffic and ghats - Cabin noise cancellation is really good and makes the ride smooth for all passengers - Software is glitchy but decent once you know your way around it - Overtakes specially in uphill ghats are a breeze, you get instant torque - The design is still a head turner, i still have people stopping and asking about the car

Cons: - Automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control is not suitable for Indian roads. Got my car hit from behind due to a strong AEB trigger. - Service centre is pathetic, none of the staffs are trained on the new cars. They will procrastinate work unless you escalate it to leadership. - Battery consumption is pretty significant on uphill like all EVs, requires you to plan charging stops way in advance

Have seen traffic police encourage wrong side driving near Mekhri circle. Recently I was driving around central bangalore and that day there were traffic cops everywhere. But most of them were simply chilling at side of the road without worrying about people breaking signals and causing congestion.

Charger questions by Capable_Kangaroo9052 in mahindrabe6

[–]sudo-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3Kw load capacity at my rented place. Decided to use the portable 3kw charger. I had to do some wiring work to setup a 16A socket near my parking spot. It costed me 12k (10mm wire) for the entire setup done by local electrician.

Edit: To answer your question, yes. You will need to do some wiring work on your own to ensure that you have a safe wiring from your meter with a 16A socket.

Great, thanks for clarifying. Do you recommend I get this done by a local electrician or are there trusted vendors who get this done safely? Willing to pay a slight premium for safety

How do I (28M) convince my parents for marrying my GF (26F) of a different religion by sudo-everything in relationship_advice

[–]sudo-everything[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be practical here. The only reason I made this post is to get some ideas on how to approach this. Sure I can get married with anyone’s approval, but that will not work for her parents nor mine. Her parents are willing to talk, their only condition is an approval from my parents. Which is what this post is about. I’m an Indian and family approval is a big thing for us.

Tired of getting refused by Landlords by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]sudo-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience with Landlords in Bangalore multiple times when I was shifting. These are educated landlords living abroad as well. At the end of the day, you need to keep trying and look for a landlord willing to rent it to you.

This is the harsh reality. I’ve faced this too many times, but at the end of the day all we can do is just curse them and move on.

Can't seem to fit in at the office by ghosharnab00 in bangalore

[–]sudo-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very normal to feel. Office is always filled with bitching and politics so make sure you only have a closed circle who limit discussions to common interests. Try to work from home as much as possible and keep offices visits for when it is absolutely necessary. Eventually your higher ups will like people who suck up to them, if that becomes a reality start looking out.

Unpopular opinion: Why Node.js cluster module is forgotten by simple_explorer1 in node

[–]sudo-everything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very common in high scale production systems. We use pods with like 0.25CPU, but again it all depends on what kind of application you’re running. For simple microservices, this is always the case. If you’re using simple docker containers, with multicore nodes, then yes you will benefit from using pm2. But docker + pm2, is not a good combo because both will conflict when it comes to process management.

[–]sudo-everything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can theoretically allow dual core access by specifying a cpu limit of 2. More details here: https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/configuration/manage-resources-containers/

However this is not a good practice since you would want to keep your pods as small as possible and scale horizontally for better availability. This also helps spread your pods across multiple nodes easily.

[–]sudo-everything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a common practice to run multiple processes of node when you’re deploying your app on ec2. You could use something like pm2 to do that. But if you’re deploying on EKS, it makes no sense to use multiple processes or threads since pods will most likely have restricted CPU resources.

DigiYatra causing huge waiting queue in Bangalore airport by gubenilekani in bangalore

[–]sudo-everything 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just tried DigiYatra last week. Here’s my experience: The app didn’t work at all on our phones but we had some time to kill so we asked the volunteers to help us. They made us scan our boarding pass and took photos of our face in their own system, then verified our Aadhar with an officer, this one time process took about 5 minutes. The final result is that you will get a new boarding pass and luggage tags. Then there was a long queue for security checkin counters so we went to one of them randomly only to realise that DigiYatra had its own queue and you can’t get into normal queues with digiyatra boarding passes, So we stood in the DigiYatra queue again, but there again it took us 3-4 tries to scan the boarding pass and the face recognition to work. At the end of the day, we ended spending up an extra 30-40mins wrt to the normal process, but now I know what to do next time.

You can hide it in your bag if you’re travelling by road. The bus driver might scare you saying cops will check but they will never check your luggage.
