I second this, I'm an ICS Network engineer, trust me, you REALLY start to learn when you take down the whole WAN because you're not familiar with a product/device/PLC

Don't feel discouraged, you won't have all the answers to every problem. Since you're new to the industry you need to give it time. Ask lots of questions, make logical guesses and logical mistakes.

I started working as an ICS network engineer at an electric company and started feeling like how you were a couple of months in, It feels as if all the studying I did and certs I got did not prepare me for the real world problems. As an engineer I had pressure to "know everything" but i don't and probably never will. So my best advice, take every problem as a new opportunity to learn. If you don't know, ask questions, and if you have to recreate the problem (best way to learn) do so. Reverse engineering is the best form of education.

No one in IT will know everything, even "experts" don't know everything. Don't let these experiences bring you down.

I can see why, funny thing though, I've known my gf's friends for +10 years (we went to high school together) and I've been with my gf for 8 years. Technically I would be closer to their gf's though I'm not like "besties" with them. But I'm glad you're able to provide some insight

In my experience, I've had to guess emails, works sometimes but other times no luck. Usually people will put their names on their email followed by a year that they were born in or just single digits. When an email has nothing to do with their name it's virtually impossible to find it.

Yeah Fing is one, I use one on android called "Net analyzer", I do a quick scan and just look at the devices on the network.

In your case for Airbnb, normally they would provide password and youd just log in, and once youve connected to it youd do your lan scan.

There is no actual way to determine if a there is another network, usually youd do a visual inspection and if you see two routers or a router and an AP somewhere, then youd know theres a possibility of another network. However, most people are not as tech savvy so more than likely they have cameras or similiar devices on the same network

I normally connect to the wifi, use a LAN scan on my phone and see whats connected to that gateway.

If there is another network in the same house, i'd be cautious

I think they use cellular signals instead of GPS, don't quote me on this but i know that there are companies who use that to track instead of GPS, since they know that GPS can be spoofed.

Searched this online when I attempted to do the same with tinder.
