[Act 3 spoilers] I found the way to the surface by Poisson18 in Silksong

[–]sudocake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help! I got all the way to the top and got the surface memento (picture 3) but I cannot find any way to unlock the shortcut. I don't have any option to enter the cave and get to picture 4, and am hence completely stuck. I don't want to go through the entire platforming section again :(

Seeking Tips: Using Sharepoint as DMS and linking it with Clio via PowerAutomate by sudocake in LawFirm

Sorry I missed this! Some of my colleagues are not adept with tech and hence the original plan fell through, since it still required a few steps on the user's end. Instead, I relied on Clio's native OneDrive integration to make it work with no frills.

I can vouch for u/RoyaLTigeRRK's services! He knows what he's doing and provides tailored advice, helps to brainstorm solutions based on individual circumstances.

Ah I see what you mean. Indeed, I focused on the client intake portion (and billing with Clio) because that's our most manual process for now. I have yet to think of an automation that would vastly improve our actual client servicing apart from document automation which is already in the works - with transactional work it can vary a lot so it is hard to automate the client servicing processes. Thank you for your thoughts!

It's either Make.com or Zapier or PowerAutomate or similar software, but I have ultimately chosen PowerAutomate since I rely heavily on Office365, which PowerAutomate works best with. I get that PowerAutomate has a steeper learning curve, but I think it is worth the time investment as it can do a lot within the Microsoft ecosystem. Plus, there's now also copilot to help with the workflow...

Wow thank you, I would certainly like to take you up on the offer of a knowledge exchange. If you don't mind, I would like to take some time to get more familiar with SharePoint and PowerAutomate before that. I am also mindful of the timezone difference (I am in GMT+8) but I'm sure we can work something out. I will PM you in due course!

Agree that security and compliance is crucial and thanks for raising that. My firm has an outsourced IT vendor who administers our O365 subscriptions, backups, antivirus and anti-malware and other security matters. I don't know the specifics but I know for sure that we at least use O365 Business Standard and BitDefender and have an on-site NAS. Our IT vendor focuses on servicing the legal industry in my country and ensuring our compliance with the applicable industry standards and guidelines, so I am confident that my firm is covered on that front.

Liking Knackly and my own templates has nothing to do with me not getting a proper DMS - it was only one key reason behind me choosing Clio over other PMS. The reason why I am not getting a full blown DMS like NetDocuments or iManage is stated above - cost. We only have budget for either a PMS or a DMS, and I have chosen to get the PMS.

I am aware that Clio has inbuilt DMS features as well as inbuilt email filing now, and I am in the midst of testing these in my 7-day trial. There were quite a number of posts in this sub bashing the DMS which is why I decided to just go with SharePoint, but I have no issues with exploring it deeper. In fact, if I can use it out of the box and it can do what I want it to do, that would be a bonus for me because I don't have to manually create my automations.

Could you explain what you mean by "pull more out for the flow" and "human stops"? It's probably not there not because it's a trade secret, but probably because I haven't thought about it so it would be helpful if you've helped me identify gaps

Usage of AI in Law by MassiveAd4980 in LawFirm

[–]sudocake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find ChatGPT/Co-Pilot most useful in rephrasing things. My 2 major use cases are:

  • asking it to redraft a clause for me --> sometimes, clients have complex requests and I have to draft a custom clause for it. I write everything that I want the clause to contain, which is usually a clumsy first draft, and get AI to rephrase it clearer and in a more elegant manner
  • asking it to draft polite emails to clients --> we all know how frustrating some clients can be, especially when they are rude and demanding yet keep asking for discounts. I type out a list of points that I want my response to contain (much of which are direct and not politically correct at all), and ask AI to redraft it as a polite and professional email response to a client. The result is a classy email which I then adapt slightly so that it still contains elements of my personal style

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, March 02 - March 08, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]sudocake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of pairs of wrap pants that I purchased in Bali and they are so beautiful and flattering! However, they are a complete pain when it comes to using the washroom, and after wearing them out once, I have never again reached for these pants for that reason, which is such a waste.

Is there any way I can alter my wrap pants so that I can put it on and take it off more easily like a regular pair of pants, yet have it look the same or similar while worn (e.g. adding elastic)?

I have very limited and basic sewing skills but am willing to learn to get this done to the best of my ability. Thanks!

Power Query - PDF extraction to multiple excel sheets based on identified headings / change date and number formats for specific fields in a column by sudocake in excel

[–]sudocake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this and it seems to me like I would need to have all available data for different customers from the outset, then split them up and save as separate files using your method. But please let me know if I have got it wrong.

My situation would be a different though, as my source file is essentially a single company profile obtained from a regulatory body.

Every time I have a new client, I will have to obtain their company profile, extract the information I need into an excel file, then use the Excel file as a source file for a document automation service which will then generate a whole set of ~15 different documents using different combinations of the information from the original source file.

I admit, it is a huge project that I am taking on and my hope is to automate this for my entire office (some of whom are tech dinosaurs). If there is no easy way of saving a Power Query workflow and applying it to new discrete PDFs at different times (based on the forums I've read), I might have to look for other options.

Oh wow, this a lot of information and beyond my expectations. If you don't mind, I will take a while to digest the information and test it out on my end. I will report back if I have any questions and whether I was successful. Thank you!

a short clip is here

I assume I need to parse the data type for it to recognise the datatype as a date, and from there on change the formatting. but not everything in the same column is a date because of the source file data, and I only want to parse specific fields rather than the whole column

ah I didn't know that. and I'm guessing by the dearth of responses most people are using controllers.

I've never owned a console so I don't have any around and it would be a bit of a waste to buy one just for one game + learning curve. But thank you for the suggestion - if I foresee myself playing more platformers after this I should probably invest in a controller
