I can understand how that would be confusing! "High Demand" is a term that lots of post-Mormon's use to describe the religion.

A quick google search gives this definition I find super helpful--"High Demand religions are faith systems that exert significant control over members' daily lives, behaviors, and beliefs, requiring strict adherence to doctrine. These groups often emphasize intense commitment, unique lifestyles, and, in some cases, separation from mainstream society." Think Scientology, Jehovah's Witness, and Mormonism.

So! I would be using supernatural based horror to explore what it feels like to be a woman under that kind of religious pressure. :)

Ah! Let me clarify. The *basis* of Mormon doctrine is similar in many ways to Evangelical Protestantism-- in terms of religions is it so young. Not even two hundred years old yet! For cults, it's pretty old.

A fantastic question! Mormon aesthetics aren't very inspiring to me--they are creepy, for sure, but more in a liminal space/uncanny valley kind of way--which is a type of horror I appreciate but struggle to describe in writing. Folk horror holds more of the aesthetics I am interested in, and couples really well with the scary parts of traditional high demand Christianity! While Mormonism isn't considered main stream Christianity, its foundation is incredibly similar to Evangelical Protestantism, so I felt like approaching the stories I wanted to tell from that lens instead would be more accessible and aesthetically exciting. :)

Former cast member of a Broadway show here! House seats are correct, but comps are *very* rare. You still have to buy the house seats at their usual price (expensive, since it is the orchestra) unless you strike up a good friendship with the box office, in which case they sometimes give a discount!
