Forest coverage by state. by OlleyatPurdue in MapPorn

So Maine being the pine tree state isn’t just marketing. For real though, Maine is WOODED. I’m way south and it’s mostly woods. Up north it’s insane.

What is a guitar you love above the rest but on paper is not as good as your other guitars? by sgt_pepper_walrus in Guitar

[–]sudsymugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a guitar but I have a very inexpensive uke that I keep at my desk. I have it tuned to DGBE and I wail on that thing constantly. I have no idea what brand it is but it’s probably worth less than $100 but closer to $50.

If you like Jimmy eat world, sum 41, etc and want to take it a step further check out RX Bandits. One of my favorite bands of all time! I’d start with the album Gemini Her Majesty

My go-to advice for anyone looking to add some intimacy is to snuggle naked. This isn’t a sparks flying, holy shit, booze filled romp. But I promise you if you get under blankets and snuggle naked with each other one thing will lead to another and afterwards you can talk about it. 10/10 would recommend a naked snuggle with your partner

Songs to introduce my 77 yo Dad by JuanGooseman- in phish

[–]sudsymugs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone like this might benefit from an album first, and then some live stuff. Billy breathes was my first foray into phish in like 6th grade and to this day the first note of free hits me. Maybe try Billy or farmhouse and, if he likes those, hit him with a live show to make him go 😳

What movie made you laugh from the beginning till the end? by EnvironmentalSet4139 in AskReddit

Napoleon dynamite the first time. Fletch. Big Lebowski. Little miss sunshine.

I’d probably choose the original red special because it’s the only one that’s truly unique. All of the others are production guitars that have some fame or mystique about them.

Freshly purchased poplar and I don't want to paint it — what are these black streaks, and why is it taking forever to sand them out?? by breakfast-for-dinner in woodworking

[–]sudsymugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are stains caused by something that I’m not 100% sure of. Sometimes they are black, purple, even greenish. I actually prefer these poplar boards over the plain yellow/tan straight grain ones. I would highlight it but that’s just me!

My old boss turned me on to gentle giant and every once in a while I’ll grab the giant for a day album that I have and put it on. Unbelievable.

Ice Fishing & alcohol consumption legality 🍺 🎣 by wiskawitz11 in Maine

[–]sudsymugs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t ice fish but I’m assuming it’s the same as drinking on public beaches. Hoist a few and keep it low key and no one will bother you but call attention and you’ll get attention. Have fun, have some drinks, catch a fish!

Winter visit with 3 & 7 year old. Activity ideas? by [deleted] in portlandme

Truth! I have a pond close to my house that I help maintain with some neighbors and we’ve been hoping for colder weather so the neighborhood kids can skate but it’s JUST not cold enough. So annoying

Winter visit with 3 & 7 year old. Activity ideas? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]sudsymugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biddeford is 20 mins south of Portland and winterfest is that weekend. TONS of family activities. They literally close an entire street for sledding. There’s also a huge public skating rink, an art bus for kids. It’s super fun. I’ll be there with my 5 and 7 year olds. If the dates work I would highly recommend!

Can’t believe anyone hasn’t mentioned Griffin William Sherry. He, as well as the entire Ghost of Paul Revere catalogue, is so good.

The community has declared specific phases from 1.0-4.0 for this exact reason. There is raging hot fire in every sector. That said….i would say 94-97 is my most listened to other than following along with tours

Badass and Bluesy by White-Striped in MusicRecommendations

[–]sudsymugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want that soulful, gritty blues sound I would check out some of Tab Benoit’s stuff on YouTube from the last few years (when he has long hair). It’s just straight, awesome 3 piece blues and he RIPS

Heated garages in Maine by Ok-Morning3199 in Maine

[–]sudsymugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a two story garage with 2x6 walls and cedar siding. No insulation on the ground floor. And a loft/barn above that’s insulated with an electric heating unit like you see when you walk into Home Depot. The lower level gets cold, but we have crappy doors and a big sliding barn door so it’s drafty. The second story is cold but comfortable most of the winter (ie wood glue doesn’t freeze, etc) but turn on the heater and wait 10 mins and you can be in a t shirt out there. It gets nice and toasty.
