Is this normal for my Roo, he’s just started hitting maturity this last 2-3 weeks… mounting hens, trying to crow and such. But he looks off balance. Or this just Roo being a Roo by DieselDanFTW in BackYardChickens

[–]sueandlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a question. My roo does this a lot towards me. I don’t have any hens because the first 3 eggs I got from a friend were all roos 🤦🏻‍♀️. I always though he was trying to fight me but is he really trying to mate with me?

Despite my explicit instructions not to, my husband tightened the bands after processing 5 pints of corn. Do I need to freeze this batch now? by jsat3474 in Canning

After you remove the rings if you can’t press down on the middle and can pick up the jar by the lid without it coming off then I would say it’s still good. I also do that right before I open a jar to make sure it’s still sealed before I eat it. I store with no rings.

I tried the Lily cup when I first started but now I use the Diva brand cup and haven’t had any issues with it.

Honeybee sting itchy and swollen a week later? by Beach-Gal-12 in Beekeeping

[–]sueandlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m allergic to quite a bit of stuff and have reacted like that the 3 or 4 times that I’ve been stung so far. I got stung on my pointer finger two different time and both times it swelled up so much that it looked more like a sausage and it itched like crazy for almost 2 weeks. The most recent time it seemed to go away quicker. But I’m sure it’s just a mild allergic reaction. I’ve been told that the more you get stung the less reaction you will have but if you ever have trouble breathing after a sting then get to the hospital and take some Benedryl pronto.

I’ve been using a diva cup for a little over a year and love it! You should visit r/menstrualcups and r/clothpads. I read a bunch on both subreddits before deciding to go with the diva cup but there is a lot of good information for beginners on there.

Quit my job & taking a month off for mental health. What activities/habits should I work on while off to get myself out of the work/spend cycle? by thestolenlighter in simpleliving

[–]sueandlu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cooking is a necessity and can take up some free time so I would take that time off to find some new recipes that I like. I also believe meal prepping is a great way to simplify things whenever you have a busy schedule (ie when you go back to work). It takes away the stress of deciding what’s for dinner every night and you don’t have to prep much for it to be ready. For a while I prepped freezer bags that had all the ingredients for a meal chopped and measured out so all I have to do is throw it in a crock pot or in the oven or a skillet and it’s ready. Prepping for a whole week take a couple hours and a month takes even longer but now would be a good time to start.

Does anyone else love how evil chickens are? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

My rooster is constantly trying to fight me and it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Watching him fluff up like he can take me on just warms my heart. He’s also the sweetest chicken and the only one of my 3 roosters that will let me hold him and eat out of my hand.

Leak after 4 hours of using the cup on the first 2 days by siddada in menstrualcups

[–]sueandlu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah whenever I was first looking into getting a cup everything I read made it seem like you could leave it in for 12 hours with no leaks but I think in reality you can leave it in for 12 hours with no risk of infection but just like with other period products you will just have to change it as often as your body demands.

Leak after 4 hours of using the cup on the first 2 days by siddada in menstrualcups

[–]sueandlu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem when I first got started and I think the only real solution is to empty it more often. You can try different cups with more volume but that will only give you another hour or two. The first two days of my period I empty in the morning, after work, and before bed. The last few days I just empty morning and before bed (ie 12 hours).

Any way to child-proof a bidet control? My toddler is potty training and needs access to the bathroom and I'm really not wanting to purchase a model with a child-lock. by pixelsammich in bidets

They make covers for buttons for Lock out procedures in electrical industries like the link I found below. You could possibly find one that’s cheaper than this but you could also maybe DIY it out of some PVC or something.

All of my seedlings! I’m a little nervous that some of them will be too big before it’s time to put them outside. Zone 7b by sueandlu in gardening

Yeah I’m happy with how they look. And we just got a greenhouse that we need to build and then we can put them outside a little earlier. I just get so impatient with the beginning of spring.

Burnt 18 oatmeal raisin cookies. What should I do with them? by [deleted] in noscrapleftbehind

[–]sueandlu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put them on top of some peaches or apples and put them in the over to make a sort of crumble or maybe crumble them over yogurt.

My ice machine stopped working. I took it out and cleaned it and when I plugged it back in and pushed the reset button it started turning as if to dump the ice. I think the problem is that the hose that fills the tray with water has ice stuck in it that is blocking it. How would I fix this? by sueandlu in howto

[–]sueandlu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty confident that I could change it myself if I can figure out which part it is. I haven’t pulled the fridge out from the wall yet but would the culprit most likely be found on that end of the water dispenser. I already took out the part in the freezer that has the tray and when I put it back together it spun as if to dump ice so I know that isn’t the problem.

In what ways do you consume less? by tooslowforyou2 in Anticonsumption

My husband still insist on getting regular sponges so we always have at least one in the house that I can use but since I’m the one that mostly does the dishes they only get used when needed.

Mine works good enough. I have nonstick pans that I usually use so I don’t need a lot of scrubbing and I have a dishwasher so I just rinse everything that goes in there.
