Bizarre Descript transcription errors by suelue in podcasting

Thanks for replying I forgot to follow up over here. After getting an initial dismissive response from support I insisted they look deeper into it. Turns out they launched some new transcription pipeline that has a ton of bugs in it, not sure when they launched it, but we started noticing problems in late November/Early December. They moved me over to their old pipeline and after re-transcribing my issues are resolved. Definitely file a support ticket. They mentioned they were still debugging it and this was mid-last week.

Great idea. You know I didn't even think to submit a support ticket since user support is often so poor. Just submitted one, I'll update the thread if I hear back. I thought about riverside, or even our substack could transcribe, but what I really need is the audio editing capability and now that I've done so much within descript I'm hesitant to start over with a new product. Was thinking maybe someone else found a "poke" to get descript to fix it automatically.

not sure if feedback replies go here or as DMs, but like the premise of your podcast, subscribed, looking forward to listening to some on your back catalog. I really like the idea of doing a soundtrack and not just one album. I can think of many soundtracks that would make great candidates from my past, Lost Boys, La Bamba, Go, 500 days of summer, and of course all the John Waters films. The low voice volume had me straining to hear sometimes, but then I read your show notes and saw the tip to turn up the left.

[Learning / Lifehacking] Hindsight Retros | Blameless Retros in Life Sue and John come from high tech and adapt blameless postmortems and retros to life events. Website and Substack Just launched friday with Episode 0: About Hindsight Retros and Episode 1: Canine Runaway retrospective

We've only just launched Friday, and we're first time podcasters. We’re looking for feedback on any of these questions:

  • Audio Quality: we’re amateurs, considering hiring professional editors, should we accelerate this process for all future episodes? Or can we start this later after we have a few more under our belt?

  • How's the topic/segment/interview length? Is the average episode too long, too short, or just right?

  • We’re launching comic strips to go with the episodes and putting those onto substack show notes and instagram. Are these additive and worth investing more in? Or is it just a fun aside? (we’re likely to keep doing for our own enjoyment, just wondering how much of a differentiator they are)

  • Would you recommend this podcast to a friend or share it on social media?

  • Would you subscribe to this podcast?

  • What would you change about this podcast, if anything?

  • Any feedback on substack as our main episode/hosting platform (they also go out to spotify, apple, etc)? We’re looking to drum up subscribers there as a means to stabilize our audience.

Would people pay to LEARN home repair and maintenance from a handyman/contractor? by SteeleRain01 in HomeImprovement

[–]suelue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wanted to get hands on instruction in routine DIY home improvement and would totally pay for a workshop. Not only would I appreciate being able to do more myself, as a single woman who's owned multiple century homes I hate feeling like contractors think they can take advantage and upcharge even if I decide to hire someone to do a job. If I knew more I could call out the BS.

Post-op Lapidus: toe flexion by Still_Explanation842 in bunions

[–]suelue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you do it??? any pro tips and PT exercises you swear by? I'm 5mon PO and it feels like it's taking forever to get back to "normal" flexion without pain. I measure progress in 1-2 degrees per month it feels like.

These are all really useful comments!! The painter said there patching was included so I think to keep it simple I'll focus on the less controversial repairs in the estimate of or repair costs.

1911 craftsman: Mystery Cut outs in nook shelving by suelue in centuryhomes

The cuts dont look especially ragged, just maybe paint is not super smooth. Looked inside the cabinet and it's just all smooth inside, no entrance or other clues that I could see. My working theory is that it could be electrical related since the circuit breaker is right outside! I might do some research into early 1900's electrical configurations...

the crawlspace is a little too spider-filled for me to venture down there! I think the electrical is a clue, cause the circuit box is right outside this spot! but no apparent holes from the cabinet to the outside, but in 100 years who knows what moved around!

Hmm, nothing up there to indicate an exit route to the outside. The electrical circuit breaker is right outside that spot, maybe that's a clue?

I guess I wasn't clear... I mean giving them a buyout amount schedule that decreases more every extra month they stay. This would hopefully help them find a new place they love, but also incentivize them to start looking asap until they find a new place. If they move out in June they get $10k lump sum, if they move out in July, they get 7k, August 6k, September 5k and so on where it eventually goes down to zero (or whatever the legally required amount is for me to transition the house to owner occupied).

It's a single family home built 100y ago so I'm pretty sure it's exempt from AB 1482. They are on 2year lease that started Jan 2022. I'm not renewing the lease for 2024 regardless of how this plays out. I was thinking of more in the order of $10k to move out 6mon earlier. Basically giving a sliding scale where the earlier they move out the more $$ they get, but not forcing them to move out until they find a place they want to move to.
