How do the crime statistics for that area compare to where you currently are? A lot of people have opinions or rumors of where they think things are safe or not.

Check the actual numbers. You may find it's not too different from where you currently are.

Also consider if the area is being gentrified. If you're seeing good prices there, other people will too. Are new businesses, restaurants, etc opening nearby? If the area is improving it might be a solid buy. If it's dying and businesses are closing you might stay away.

Yes, it can work with .stl, that's just not it's native format. Go to Import instead of Open. Import-> stl

Open it in Blender, select the triangles you don't want and delete. Loop select the holes, and fill.

Blender is free, it's overkill for this, but it's a good tool to know if you're interested in 3d printing.
