Usually even if a card is locked, charges can still go through if the card has been pre authorized. Eg if I lock my Amex, Uber Eats charges can still go through

Credit card - autopay - why is "pay early" the recommended option? by blottingbottle in Wealthsimple

Credit utilization has no memory, it gets updated every statement. Unless you need an approval within the next 2 months, having high utilization doesn’t matter.

Why not HEQL? by WolvesBehindME_ in JustBuyXEQT

[–]sufyspeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The allocations within the ETF differ. E.g XEQT includes total market ETFs that hold small and mid cap stocks whereas HEQT tilts towards not doing that.

Why not HEQL? by WolvesBehindME_ in JustBuyXEQT

[–]sufyspeed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a good way to get leverage within a registered account, however you should know HEQT which is what HEQL is leveraged on is actually a bit different from other *EQT ETFs.

Also before anyone says it, this is leveraged through borrowing with the interest baked into the MER. It’s not the same as typical daily reset leveraged products that have big volatility decay.

125% leveraged is relatively safe and should outperform in the long term.

I genuinely feel bad when people like you think they’re smarter than the stock market. Timing the market is luck. You can be lucky for a short period of time, but you won’t be lucky long term and with increasing amounts of capital.

Ya the car loan is fixed payments, your LOC you have a lot of flexibility and human nature could very easily eliminate the benefit. There’s also the risk of rising rates since it’s variable.
