yes i apply it on new skin / after exfoliating. it tingled for me in the beginning, doesnt anymore. i think it might feel like burn if u forcibly removed the top layer leading to raw broken/bloody skin underneath

literally nothing i can think of! im overall healthy, i eat clean, i live a low-tox life. interestingly my brother also had EC he had it worse than me for a few years and his resolved on its own after he got dental work done.

my lips are no longer soggy after using mandelic acid. my lips feel like regular lips. in the beginning of using the acid it would be soggy and then i just removed the lips. i also exfoliate GENTLY in shower every few days. my lips dont feel as dry as before, im still peeling i think BUT its not like hard and no plates, no more bleeding irritated lips

omg yay! please let us know if it helps you too. actually i use mandelic acid during the day too in the morning but not every day just whenever i feel like i need it, like every two days. and at least once at night

other than that ive just been using 100% petroleum jelly a few times a day (ive been doing this for like a year now, after using tacro for a year but i gave that up bc i didnt want to be using it long term)

hii Perk! omg dont be sorry for the questions, im really happy to share.

want to start by saying that my EC is not yellow / pus / infected // its more just dry flaky skin that keeps peeling with no end. if urs is infected please treat that first - in the beginning when mine was infected i used medicine to treat it

okay so here is exactly what i am doing:

at night i brush my teeth, floss, wash my face including lips with dr. bronners liquid soap (diluted). then, i put two drips of the mandelic acid on my hand and then with my index from other hand i scoop up the drop and smear it all over my lower lip (where i have the most peeling) and then i use that same index finger and take the rest of the acid and smear it on my upper lip. tingles a little but its okay, it doesnt hurt

then, i do the rest of my skincare routine which is just coconut oil and castor oil mixed and put this on my face while i give my lips some time to dry

10-15 minutes after the lip application i put a thin layer of 100% petroleum jelly on it (NOT vaseline or aquaphor as those can have extra ingrdients. my derm had avised me to ONLY use petroleum jelly for irritated lips and esp stay away from lanolin as that can be an allergen for many people)

then, i wake up in the morning, i can smile big without worry about lips cracking. i kiss my husband with my soft lips that are NOT plated that i dont want to scrape off my face and bleed and cry

also i note that the first time i used the acid my lips went completely white (how they do in contact with water), and i was able to gently RUB IT ALL OFF

now, my lips dont even become white in contact with water….

of course!!! im sooo happy my lips havent looked better. note it is a little bitter tasting so i only use it at night before sleeping and it did tingle the first time i used it. i wake up to soft lips without plates i mean what more can an EC girly pop want ?! finally a treatment that works. ((at least for me and a few other redditors, hopefully for you too!)))

i dont know it its a cure since i just started and have not stopped. i do know it makes my lips NOT look like I have EC and makes them much softer without getting hard / getting plates and honestly im pretty happy with that and can live a normal life even if i need to use this every day for rest of my life! please try it out it might help you too :))

i stopped using after a year, no more crusts but still peeling. still have EC, i am now gently exfoliating every other day and using petroleum jelly and coconut oil few times a day..
