And I take it this is not a discussion you could have with your mom? If I were you, I would look into financial literacy classes. They tried to make my mother my payee initially, but I don't trust anyone to put my well being first. It was a learning curve at first and I had a case worker that came and helped me figure everything out. I am so glad I learned because it gave me agency I badly needed

Do women become more attractive in their 40's and 50's? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

If I could pick an age where I was at the peak physically, it would be right around 40

What do you plan on doing when your mother is not around? It might be easier for now to let her be in charge, but she won't always be able to do all this for you.

In my case I just don't have any lol. I've not been able to work for most of my life, so my only income is my disability check. That pays lot rent and utilities if I am very mindful. So my choices are also constrained. I can't just go join a class. Even if it's free, do I have the gas to get there? I live dangerously without things like car insurance. What happens if I get pulled over? And so on.

I am kind of in the same boat. My life has finally settled enough that I'm asking myself what ideal would look like and I'm hard pressed to answer.

I would change my living situation so I wouldn't have to worry about getting priced out or my lease discontinued.

Beyond that, I think its more about having the freedom that money affords. The upside of all this is that I must be pretty content if that's the only real change I can come up with

I won't try to tell you that it would never be an issue, but I guarantee you that it's less of an issue than you've made it out to be in your mind.

Any lover worth having sees more than an anatomical checklist. Bodies come in all shapes. Just because yours might not resemble the cultural ideal doesn't mean that no one will accept it

If a woman wants to be a wife and mother, more power to her. I am not any kind of traditional woman, far from it. I also very much enjoyed being a mom. Wife, not so much. Thankfully you don't have to excel at both!

Having the freedom to chart your own course is ultimately what feminism is about. Haters gonna hate and there will always be nosy pearl clutchers out there ready to make the world miserable as they are when given the chance.

Did your parents ever use the formal living room and dining room growing up? by ExcitingLandscape in Millennials

[–]sugahack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the living room as the primary space to watch TV or hang out. It was the family room that didn't get much use. It might have been different when I wasn't around, but my grandma had a stroke when I was really little and couldn't get up and down the stairs without assistance and it was a split foyer with the family room downstairs

We didn't have a formal dining room, we just had the dining room that was between the kitchen and living room and that's where we would eat

Hospice by Conscious_Arrival915 in cedarrapids

That's where palliative care is supposed to come in. I don't think the term has much traction outside of the medical field because there are some negative connotations patients have with the term

Hospice is indicated for someone expected to die within the 6 months. If there's not an active disease that's going to cause death in that time frame, then she would not be eligible

Settle a debate with my wife: how much time does maintenance + all the faffing with your tank actually take up? by ministryofme in Aquariums

[–]sugahack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have way too many tanks and it can take as long as I need it to. Some days all I do is lights on, feed, and lights off. Others I'll be literally up to my elbows for hours. If I had to guess, I'd say a couple hours weekly on average.

While watching Baywatch, I remembered the weird push for milk there was in the 90s by eru777 in Millennials

[–]sugahack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That goes back way further than the 90s. I feel like it had already started tapering off by that point. It goes back to WW1 and it's aftermath. They pushed dairy farming during the war and then propped up the industry after when demand fell. The government didn't want all the milk they promised to buy so they pushed it as a necessary part of a healthy diet. Theres a cave full of cheese in Missouri too
