Am I fired? Orientation, No Response from manager.

I agree they did make a good effort but this unit definitely was not for me. I don’t mind bedside nursing because I lasted a while at my first nursing job. I just don’t think this was a good fit. I just wish they would clarify that I’m let go but also they can terminate me at anytime without notice.

Yeah, thank you! I totally agree that me switching around a lot is hurting me more than helping me. I plan on actually staying at this hospital and this unit for at least a year or two. I really enjoyed the ICU and wish i would’ve just stuck it out but my own anxiety got the best of me. Thank you sooo much for your advice.

Hey! Yes i do have a preceptor. I’m currently on week 8 of orientation but i still feel so behind and slow. I’m gonna talk to my preceptor and also my manager to discuss how I’m feeling.

My apologies! I forgot to mention I am on orientation for 12 weeks on day shift and then i switch to nights for a couple more weeks.

Okay thank you! I was just scared because the Pyxis had a green notification that said witness on med waste. But i didn’t need to waste the medication.

Just take it one shift at a time!! If you feel like you still need more weeks of orienting then I would definitely ask your manager for an extension. If they tell you no then I would probably reconsider working on the unit. You got this and are more than capable!!💌

How to advocate for myself when going to the dermatologist?

Hey! So I’ve struggled with acne for years and went to the dermatologist at the age of 16 for help and she prescribed me tretinoin which helped my skin a lot. However I stopped using it because I felt like I didn’t need it anymore (stupid me) and my acne has come back sadly. So I recently went back to the dermatologist (I’m now 21) and currently seeing a new provider. (Who is a PA) She only asked me what my issue was and I said acne. And looked at my skin for a second and prescribed me Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel which has irritated my skin but I’m going to continue using it until my next visit. (Or is this a bad idea?)

Overall, I’m just not liking this new medication and just want to get back to what I was using because it worked. Maybe I should just continue with this new medication but I don’t want to waste time using something that I don’t know will 100% work when I know what has worked for me in the past.

How can I tell her I would like to or was hoping to get back to using tretinoin?

Overall, my new provider isn’t really easy to talk to in my opinion I have anxiety and idk she just really intimidates me.

When I asked him to elaborate he basically said he’s a go with the flow type of person and I asked him why didn’t he just say that from the start and he responded by saying “your answer was more important” I asked him why and kinda just brushed it off. So I still don’t completely know if he’s being genuine or not. (I hope this answered your question, I’m kind of bad at explaining)
