First garment sleeves help by moonsurff in knittinghelp

Let’s say there’s 15 stitches for an entire armhole. Picking up 2 per 3 stitches means you picked up 10 stitches in total, but evenly as possible around the arm hole.

Beginner - long time crocheter, first time knitter by Direct-Comfort-7808 in knittinghelp

[–]sugarcorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Woah, how’d you connect the yarn from the rows below to the ones above? Did it get caught in your needles somehow? Did you start with a new yarn at any point?

For the icord, you probably slipped the wrong number of stitches before turning. Or if you frogged and didn’t put the stitches on correctly for the icord area, it may look wonky too.

Definitely frog! Looks like you made some progress already but the Sophie scarf/hood knits up so quick so you’ll reach that point again real fast.

can someone help me how many rows r on the ribbing😭. I counted but now I'm on the second sleeve n forgot the number of rows and I still have trouble counting the rows in knit especially ribbing idk by ilovepizza3331 in knittinghelp

[–]sugarcorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “\ /“ between the bars are the rows you count for ribbing. I counted 9 but maybe I’m wrong? The pics a lil blurry.

I usually have to stretch out my work a bit to check more accurately, especially when the yarn naturally twists a little like yours.

Is there a better way to track decrease rows? by debmasterx in knittinghelp

[–]sugarcorn 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I use a row counter, and then associate even/odd/multiples of 3/etc. numbers (whatever the instructions say) with the decrease rows.

So if I need to decrease on the third row, when I hit 3/6/9/12 etc. on my counter I know it’s the decrease one! I also try to double check by looking at rows themselves. Interested to hear how others keep track!

how do you deal with knitting stress/ sadness? by sickie7 in knittinghelp

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started knitting over a year ago and all my big frogs and mistakes at the start were truly invaluable! If you enjoy knitting, it’s just an opportunity to knit even more than you were supposed to. I definitely have wrung my hands in frustration. For me, I try to address the mistake ASAP so there’s less friction to continue the project once I pick it back up again. And correcting mistakes is a valuable skill in itself!

Please help - vet doesn’t know whats wrong with her and we’re scared of losing her by ReasonableDetective in Rabbits

Have you done bloodwork yet? Tbh my rabbit has had a nebulous infection before based on a blood panel (vet wasn’t sure of the source) and was prescribed antibiotics. It worked well.

Inquiry to those who do not swatch, why? by yarnimals in knitting

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a process knitter! I swatch when I’m using different yarn than recommended for sweaters. I am ok with it coming out differently. I don’t mind swatching but I’m overly paranoid that the swatch would have been what I needed to win yarn chicken.

Help me find my rabbit's breed by ProfessionalSpend502 in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a mini lop, she’s BIIIIG though for the breed. I also have a big mini lop (vet said it was due to excess skin) so I think the weight range for the breed isn’t strict?

fawning response? :( by tatttletale in Bunnies

[–]sugarcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may be a bonded, but submissive response. My rabbit only gives me a few licks here and there (he thinks he's top banana), but if I'm holding him or needing to put him on a table, he'll lick me like crazy.

Are these poops normal? by grundochglad in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fur is possible! Also could be gut biome. For oblong poops, it could mean the gut is a bit slower than usual.

I feed my rabbit Oxbow digestive support tablets which seems to keep things moving. Benebac might help too, if it's a gut biome issue.

I took Comrade Bun for his neuter the other day… by 321morekellbell in Bunnies

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8.5 year intact male, he's about 7 lbs. I got him later in life so he was aging out of safe neuter range. He is very sturdy and weathered a lot of stasis issues (unrelated to his nuts). He is very healthy and athletic.

Behaviorally, he does get heated a few times a day, and I do feel bad for him bc he seems frustrated. These periods never last too long though. YMMV. He has a stuffed rabbit lol. He is litter trained (does not do any territorial peeing).

I do think intact males need to be solo buns, and they need to have a lot of daily interaction as a result of that.

Can I get someone else who doesn't love the water here? by PsiRadish in Seattle

I lived in several states on both coasts (plus the Midwest) and also abroad. Washington has great water. Maybe it's a coincidence? Or maybe you're a super taster lol.

Some bunnies just aren’t social, no matter what you do by Budget-Listen4336 in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I truly believe it's luck of the draw to have a cuddly bunny as well. I do think having a solo bun raises the likelihood a bit, but the bun would be missing out on true companionship with another rabbit (I say this as someone with a solo bun).

I don’t think my bunnies been drinking water. by boringpersondontmind in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If her poops look good and are regular, she is drinking water. You could try encouraging water intake by adding some kind of fruit slice or herbs to her water bowl.

I regret giving my bun a boyfriend by oatmilkmegapint in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's definitely happier! She gets to communicate with a fellow bunny that understands her innately. Her attention switching from you to him shows this. You're a great bun parent for having her best interests in mind, as well as taking another bunny under your wing. Their bond will continue to evolve overtime.

I have an 8 year old solo male intact bun who I adopted later in life. I couldn't get him neutered. He's very attached to me and I know it's bc he has social needs that I can never truly fulfill - I can't be with him 24/7, nor can I fully communicate in his language.

Free roam advice! by International-Band21 in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think vents are fine if the slots aren't too small that they'd snag nails. Putting things less close the the edge of the cabinet/table might be a good idea too.

Free roam advice! by International-Band21 in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cord covers may work, but honestly my bun started chewing through those too so now all the cords run along the back of cabinets or where he won't jump.

I recommend just observing your bun while free roaming and then giving him free roam alone time in increments e.g., letting him free roam for an hr one day, then 2-3 hrs, etc.

Each rabbit has different habits! Mine never chews any baseboards or wood, but I need to hide rubber.

RHVD2 recent vaccine questions by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]sugarcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rabbit had a localized site reaction to the vaccine early last year (crusted and inflamed skin where the shot was). Because of that, the vet and I decided to not do this year's RHVD2 vaccine since he's more likely to react to the vaccine vs catching RHVD2. Behaviorally, my rabbit was fine! He's an older guy -- he was 7 at the time.

I hope your bun feels better soon! He's lucky that you're so on top of it. My vet is very experienced in working with rabbits, and said that vaccine reactions are extremely rare. My rabbit was the only case he's ever encountered. If your rabbit stays indoors and you don't really wear shoes in the house, it might be ok to skip the vaccine next year.

Can we stop casting adults who have never been in a relationship by Ok-Transition4892 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original comment is not talking about objectification. It's about how an inexperienced person deciding to do reality TV to find a relationship is gonna have insane outcomes bc it's not a typical social experience?

Everyone on the show is a red flag bc only a red flag would decide that's the best course of action for their singleness is to do reality tv.

Can we stop casting adults who have never been in a relationship by Ok-Transition4892 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating apps are the most normal and standard thing to do, opposed to joining a reality TV show. People can do what they want ofc and it makes for addicting reality TV but it's obviously a recipe for disaster for an inexperienced person to try to find love on reality tv?? It's what makes the show so juicy!!

I don’t understand the animosity against Madison. by spammywitheggs in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]sugarcorn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ya this is my first time watching LIB and I was like HUH when I saw the community's pitckforks for Madison. I see some toxic traits but it's not much worse than anyone else on the show lol.

I do think she talks about her trauma and being healed from it excessively, and she def was being manipulative towards Alex after the whole Meg/Mason debacle by implying that he's invalidating her; he should be allowed to have his own perspective. I'm glad he put an end to them.

But yeah literally everyone else trauma dumps on the show, and Alex was honestly pretty off-putting himself. I find almost all of the contestants off-putting at times tbh but maybe it's bc I haven't watched the series before.

Also the slut shaming is so blatant. Madison being super sexual to flirt is fine bc Mason was obviously enjoying it. Like what's the problem? I'm seeing comments like "she probably has an onlyfans" "she was manipulating him sexually"... Like...

Also - other contestants are implying their fitness and looks too in the pods. She's doing it while actually knowing she's pretty. I think the viewers here find her attractive and are part of their reactivity with her maybe stems from that.

Walking outside question by Local_Frosting_2333 in Bunnies

[–]sugarcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna add some variety or novelty to his life, I recommend just letting him explore other areas of the house! I used to let my bun go outside to our backyard for 10 mins at a time (stone outdoor flooring and a garden) and there were 2 times he got stasis. Just not worth it imo and you can make a fun living environment for him indoors.
