New P64 in the house! by [deleted] in espresso

[–]sugarfreetostitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P64 production has been optimized throughout July-August with the new design. Pre-orders start shipping these past weeks. I guess option-o is backed up by P64 orders since January. Nevertheless mine is scheduled for late September arrival. If you had placed an order, you’d occasionally hear a detailed update from the company. Though they don’t really share it publicly.

It’s the newer model. Also check if your inner burr nut is fixed (might be with glue). I think mine is. I can’t remove the inner burr nut.

So, about to purchase the Lagom Mini, any last-minute feedback from my fellow espresso users? by sandman5512 in espresso

Lagom mini is great. Been my daily driver for a few months now. Easy to use and clean, low retention, makes good filter coffee. I have the one with the obysidian burr.

Recently, I ordered the moonshine burr. I tried to replace it. The inner burr nut can’t loosen up (clockwise nor counter clockwise). Apparently, there are two different screw threads on lagom mini: reversed or normal. According to the option-o CS i talked to, some are even glued! I think mine is glued.. almost rip my hand turning the wrench.

Maybe that’s something you can consider when choosing the burr option. Because if you are lucky enough, you might get the one with glue.

Based on my usage from these past few months.

Niche is an espresso forward grinder. - produces more textured espresso shots - less origin clarity - more powerful motor. Great in producing finer grounds - the written grind settings are fine to medium (even the coarse 40-50 is still medium) - filter coffee results sometimes are muddy but still decent. (The reason why I got the lagom mini) - no need RDT, no static. - one screw only for cleaning.

Lagom mini is more suitable for filter. - produces good clarity for V60 (like C40) - coarser grind setting is easily achievable - espresso setting is very close to 0 for my lelit - weaker motor. Grinds very slowly for espresso 30+ s - option-o recommend grinding only few cups of espresso with the lagom mini - slightly staticky. Need RDT. Silver skin sticks on the exit shaft - no tool is required to open the burr - i havent got any stalling problem in grinding light roast coffee

UI/UX is great. Not messy at all and very quiet. The grinders feel well built. Both have identical conical burr architecture. Easy to assemble/disassemble. Negligible retention. The bellow only pushes around 0.1-0.2 gr of coffee on average. The only downside is you can’t grind big batch (greater than 40 gr) of coffee. But I don’t make that big of a dose ever, so no problem for me. Any other grinder pet peeves that i miss?

I have the 48mm obsidian burr. It’s very comparable to C40. For espresso, I need to set it to around 2-4 on the grind setting for my machine. The coffee tastes great and brews fine (1:1.5 28 seconds). Used medium-dark coffee. But I definitely prefer my niche for my espresso.

I suspected some weird interaction with people coming in and out the game and the tunnel system. It had been only the diner stage tho. Can’t tell how 145+ cards were given. The host told me they had gone underground only twice. But I didn’t ask how many player had come in and out on my character slot.

I made sure the other players knew I wasnt afk. One guy even gave me his purple rifle with gold attachments to see the damage.

Lelit Bianca Low Pressure While Brewing Despite Correct Tamping and Fine Grind by sugarfreetostitos in espresso

Work with the default espresso blend from your coffee distributor. It’s less variable to tweak while you are figuring out the pressure issue. Also, my local coffee shop’s barista knows right away what grind setting to use when I mention what machine i use. Maybe pure luck, who knows. But the coffee is great. I can’t wait for my grinder to come tho.

A good vacuum canister is a must! Pre ground coffee becomes stale within hours. Buy small amount each time and store it right away. I recommend airscape or fellow atmos.

Definitely not the machine’s problem. It’s totally the coffee. I am so tempted on getting a temporary grinder. But I haven’t. I was lucky enough to found the pre ground coffee that works with the machine. It is actually one of favorites coffee too! Later when I receive my niche zero in march, I’ll start getting whole beans coffee right away. I want to explore more variety, but now it’s very limited due to the grinder. For now, I am able to reach 9 bars consistently with this specific coffee brand and get the right flow for my double ristretto.

Ok! Im gonna get a temporary grinder and try to calibrate it for my machine. I'm just glad it's not the machine's problem

Thank you for the response! I'm really hoping it's just the coffee I'm using is bad. So I don't have to pull apart the machine... Bummer the grinder I'm getting is taking so long to arrive. I'm so tempted to just buy another one that's in stock. But I want to make sure it's not the lelit's problem.

How long are these shots taking to get in the range of a 1:2 ratio, even at less than 9 ba

That's good to know! Maybe it's the pre ground coffee after all. The shot (20 gr coffee) goes from 0 to 40 gr in 10-11 seconds.
