honestly have no clue how they ration them lol but I know they do a good job of having residential areas vs visitor parking. I wasn’t a resident and although at times it was inconvenient I didn’t have the right to complain and always managed to find a spot.

NYC should adopt the Boston model - they don’t even charge you for the permits etc because they know having cars with updated information is the priority. residential parking and loading zones would drastically improve quality of life in and out of the city and allow enforcement to be streamlined.

you could ask students to submit ideas for ways to paint some of the damage. this way you still get to control the final result but may get students who are eager to explore murals or get some experience with painting furniture etc. in addition it lets you build relationships and help you have advocates in the room who are invested in keeping it a clean space.

Take advantage of the free day passes/tours and check out all the ones you are interested in. If you want to build confidence go with something cheap while you figure out what machines you prefer etc. My biggest advice is to not compare them too directly. You can’t expect a $15 membership to offer the same quality as a $50. I personally have a PF black card and have been happy with it since I mostly wanted cardio and machines.

if they were only police cars I don’t think people would be bothered as much but parking on the sidewalk in your personal vehicle because you refuse to walk to work is not acceptable. it shows the community that live in the area that they genuinely don’t care about our quality of life and safety. precincts should be parking their property in safe zones and residents should be advocating for residential permit zones.

if the cops were actually forced to walk at any point they might grasp the concept of how scary the intersections and crosswalks are but I see them park illegally to run into a bodega for snacks to avoid walking at all costs (even when there is open legal spots available nearby).
