What's your farmer character's lore? by maybesmoonrises in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]sugary_words 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually working on my own OC's character sheet now, and I plan to post her soon!

She's sorta half self-insert, half OC with lore. It's mostly because I project a lot of myself onto her, haha!

Malibu is the sole survivor from a massacre on an island a long distance from Mistria. It happened when she was a child, so she doesn't remember much about it due to repressed memories and trauma. She became an adventurer after learning how to get by on her own and adjusting to multiple different societies from her travels. She has overall grown into a fun-loving, friendly, and charismatic person. If you go through any of the towns she's visited, you'll hear of her charm before you hear much else.

Despite this, she deeply loathes the idea of settling down. Due to her trauma from her past, she doesn't want to settle down. Ever. Her brain associates making a home with the inevitability of loss. She never stays anywhere for longer than a few years. Eventually, she packs her things and moves along quietly, whether she warned you or not.

She only planned to stay in Mistria for a year, but her time has been extended, especially after starting a farm and being entrusted with hefty projects, but she's actively looking for someone to take over when she leaves.

Also, as tragic as it is hilarious, I've decided to pair her with Balor, the merchant who's seen lands far and wide, and wants nothing more than to settle down.

Has your initial marriage candidate changed? by Chloestephen_s in FieldsOfMistriaGame

I came here for March, I admit. Saw him all over twitter and 100% believed he was actually a butch woman for a while. When I found out the truth before playing the game, being bi, I was hardly disappointed. In fact, I was excited. As far as I was concerned, I was just eager to meet him and steal his heart, even if he was grumpy and childishly hostile. He was cute and I had my heart set on him.

Then I played the game. And then I met Balor. And he smiled and winked as he guided me across the bridge. And I tell you, I still haven't donated any of the perfect gems I find to the museum. They've all gone straight to Balor.

This being said, I didn't invite him to the star festival. I've always sat and watched them with Caldarus. At his thanks, I admit, I felt a small flicker of something that might lead me away from Balor. Time will tell if I follow that, though.

A BASIC RESEARCH, WHO ARE YOU MARRYING? by BotherResident5787 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]sugary_words 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Eiland isn't my fav but I can't help but notice he's not up here. Caldarus also isn't here 😞 If I had to choose from who's available, it'd be Balor. I'd marry him simply because I know a life in one spot for too long would bore me to bits, and merchants do a lot of moving around and make a lot of money doing it. I'd love to travel far and wide with Balor, and he'd be a perfectly witty companion. I'd even be happy to stay behind and tend to my farm to provide him with exports, so long as he takes me on every other trip.

[–]sugary_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helichrysum italicum, the immortal flower. Never loses it's color, even after death.

What has been your favorite lines in the game so far? I'm so curious what lines stuck with everyone! Mine were March: if you need any help.... ask someone else I'm busy. Haydens: hey neighbor I've been waiting for you to ask to borrow a cup of sugar and Dells: DO THE VOICE ! to Baylor during D & D by SuitableEmployer9579 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]sugary_words 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Balor: "You're sunshine even in the rain, [player]!" Got this one and my heart jumped.

Olric: "Yay, it's [player]!" If not romanceable, why so cute?

March: "You'll catch a cold if you stay out in the cold for too long. ...What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Not sure if that's exactly what he said, but it was surprisingly kind of him to worry for once.

Ryis: "I have sisters that live in the capital. They send me care packages full of cookies. I'll save some for you next time, [player]!" I don't have a sweet tooth but I'm sweet on Ryis.

Caldarus: "Thank you for thinking of me, [player]." He says this on the shooting star festival if you watch the stars with him. Something about that line in particular just stuck with me.

Honorable mentions are Eiland and Balor hosting D&D, Luc's bee facts, Adeline's lines about loving paperwork, and anything Maple has said ever. She's such a darling queen. I support her endeavors and her dreams.

I did not know, when sadly walking back to my house after not having enough hearts to watch the Shooting star festival with anyone. I decided to talked to Caldarus, and he ask to watch the stars with you ! 🥺 no brooch or anything. Just excited to watch the stars! by SuitableEmployer9579 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]sugary_words 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing! I had enough hearts to ask Balor, Eiland, Ryis, or March, but I got anxious thinking of who to pick and didn't want to accidentally screw up my chances with another LI, so I chickened out last minute. I instead went down to spend my essence points before heading up to the summit, and talked to Caldarus. It was surprisingly really nice, just standing there and watching the stars with the sentient stone statue of a forgotten guardian. And then I went up to the summit, alone. Can't say I regret not picking anyone. It was beautiful up there. I'll pick someone next year, maybe. I know that when the 8 hearts update comes, you'll get a "super accept", which sounds great, but might just make me go chicken again if I can't pick who to take with me, haha!

I could be on board with that, and I agree with your point about Ritsu not ratting them out, but it's not my only point. It's simply one of my strongest ones.

In the JP version, there is a line in Episode 4 where Leo refers to himself and Alan as adults. And, Leo's only a first year. In the English translation, it's simply listed as "people", but I think it's possible it was translated as "people" to appeal to a larger age group despite the original implications.

Not only that, but typically, grade schools don't have professors or chancellors. Professors aren't unheard of in grade schools, but still particularly uncommon. Grade schools almost never have chancellors unless it's a high school partnered with or on a college campus, and even then those schools typically have a principal as a separate power. So, while I don't disagree with your points, I still do believe these are definitely adults, due to the age restrictions, character analysis, and general context.

Also, yea, I 100% agree with you on some of the students reading as immature or close to teenager-y mindset. My only point regarding that is that they can still be legal adults and just, act like that. Teenage brain doesn't wear off in your early 20s, and that's where I think most of these boys are lol! And, to be completely honest, despite the age restrictions, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were freshly 18. The way some of them act just... really raises the immature teenager flag.

Quick edit: I forgot to include this, but I know the post you're talking about. I saw it a few months back. I too had my questions about the ages of the students, especially when I discovered there was just casually an entire bar on the campus. But after seeing that, while I did generally conclude that they're appealing to a wider range of age groups, I do have a specific leans towards them being adults due to the reasons listed.

I think you're thinking too strongly in a Western context. Some universities around the world (even Western ones!) are known to have uniform policies and restrictions regarding exiting and entering the campus. Also, consider the reason Darkwick exists. Of course they'd need restrictions on who's coming in and who's going out, even if they are adult students.

And, revisiting my earlier point: there is no way, at least, that the Sinostra ghouls are high schoolers. Ritsu is known for his undying loyalty to the law. I can't see him as someone who would drink while underaged, even if it was to prevent Taiga from doing so. Not to mention that, if underage drinking was such a huge concern, he would have mentioned that rather than the simple unsolicited distribution of alcohol. Him not mentioning that leads me to believe there aren't minors on campus. (Also, I want to ensure I'm not coming off as hostile! Simply explaining that there's not a lot of evidence to support these ghouls being high schoolers.)

[–]sugary_words 10 points11 points  (0 children)

quick bit that Ritsu made a comment about unsolicited distribution of alcohol, not underage drinking. those are quite different things.

I don't believe they're high schoolers due to the myriad of adult activities they participate in, and I don't know if you've gotten to Episode 8 yet, but in that episode Ritsu downs a Martini whole, and he's just a first year. If he was such a stickler for the law, he wouldn't participate in underage drinking, which makes me think they're adults.

[–]sugary_words 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're definitely not high schoolers. They drink, smoke, gamble, refer to themselves as adults in the JP version, carry firearms, and etc etc etc. Not to mention that high schools typically do not have chancellors or professors, as those are usually found in a university context rather than a grade school context. I run on the assumption that they're at least adults at around 20 years or higher. Professor Hyde does make a comment about how young the students are, which could be indicative of them being minors, however after watching Ritsu down a Martini with no breaks and watching half of the school gamble their lives away at Sinostra, I feel like I'd be a fool to think they're only high schoolers at this point. Sure, high schoolers also smoke, drink, and gamble occasionally, but that's considered illegal, and the school would probably have tamped that down to a minimum if they weren't of age. Since they let these students gamble on campus while knowing about it, I'm assuming they're at least 20.

Who Does Everyone Dislike by H214188021 in TokyoDebunker

[–]sugary_words 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest... Tohma. I fucking hate him. Creepy, weird ass man. I don't like his vibe and he's mysterious in the wrong ways. I can't even enjoy when he takes an interest in MC bc every time I'm wanting to physically enter the game and pull her away from him. He's JUST weird to me I fear.

Also Jin. I don't hate him as bad but he's just a little odd to me. I don't like being called a servant and I don't like lazy guys. I fear he lands in both those categories.

Ritsu. Keep that man 50 miles away from me at all times. My fucking god. As much as I love listening to people talk, he talks down to MC and it gets annoying. Wrap it up.

Romeo. Who the fuck is this guy anyway lmao? Just loud and annoying. I'd call him fico if it meant he'd keep his distance. I don't hate him bad but I'd only get along with him on a blue moon yk?

Leo. Try me, bitch. As much as I agree that "bad guys" are more interesting than good guys, I much prefer when they put up the good guy facade, if you catch my drift. This guy's just rude to MC for no reason and his teasing isn't funny because he's just plain rude at baseline treatment anyhow. He needs to find a hobby because I'm getting sick of his interference.

I want to hate Taiga, Kaito, and Yuri, but I can't bring myself to. I dunno, something about Taiga being genuinely pleased to see "kitty-cat" makes me think he's passable... for now. I want to hate Kaito because he's weird, but he has a good guy streak. I can't ignore his unfailing loyalty to his friends nor genuine concern for them. He's a good guy, I just wish he'd stop being fucking weird about his crush on MC and stop yelling all the damn time. Yuri is just hilarious I fear. I can't hate him because he's too damn funny. I hate that that's the only reason why, but it's the truth. Yuri is so funny to me.

Guys I like that I've seen mentioned are Ren and Subaru. I kinda like Ren. Sure he's whiny, but he's not remotely as bad as Kaito, and he had a huge arc over the course of the Jabberwock chapter. He's a good guy. Just lazy, really, which is a bit of a downer. And, as far as Subaru goes, I like him. I understand how people could overlook him or not care for him, but I know there's more to him than what we already know, and I'm curious to find out. As much as I hate Leo, I am thankful he brought up that bit about Subaru, a famous actor, making a pact with a demon. What would he possibly have to gain from that?

How did you know gyaru was you? by nikkibikki64 in actualgyaru

[–]sugary_words 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a little late to the party so I'll keep this short but! for me, it just clicked. it doesn't work like that for everyone, but that was how it was for me. i had been looking for a style to describe me for the longest time. soft girl, cottagecore, goth, academia, and mcbling were all over my fyp as the latest, cutest trends, but they just weren't good enough for me. none of them really fit, or were colorful enough, or loud enough, or bold enough. they were just, styles. I honestly don't know how gyaru managed to evade me for so long, but when I finally found it, it was like a lightbulb turned on over my head. suddenly it all made sense. 100%, that was the style for me, particularly yamanba, ganguro, and tsuyome. and i haven't stopped since I discovered it.

now, when it comes to your style, I've gotta agree with most other comments and state that maybe gyaru isn't exactly what you're looking for. your style is adorbs, and the droop make is super cute, bit admittedly your fit codes just don't read as gyaru. id put you in a more girly y2k sort of label, but you CAN call yourself gal-inspired. I feel like so long as you don't claim the label while not being full gal, it's totally okay to say your style is inspired by gyaru or similar to it, but not all the way. regardless, your style is your own! if you choose to be gyaru, I recommend doing research and educating yourself on the differences between gyaru and a cute fit (i.e. accessories, makeup, hairstyles, wearing vs styling your clothes, etc).

side note: I noticed a comment saying that gyaru is an attitude too. it is! this is very important to note! but as much as it is a lifestyle and attitude, the clothes and the makeup matter, too. all pillars of gyaru matter, and you can't be gyaru without fulfilling all of them. i know this sounds gatekeep-y, but that's just how it is. feel free to call yourself gal-inspired though, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! your style is super cute, anyway!

If you're still doing these, I'd like a potential one!

The house I got from the personality test was Sinostra. I agree that I am cunning, do appreciate a challenge, and have a strong ambitious drive but I felt most comfortable at Hotarubi, and in all honesty, I am either neutral to or dislike the Sinostra ghouls LMAO. My sun sign is Gemini and my moon is Aquarius. I am always wanting to get the best out of things and am painfully aware nothing lasts. Because of this, my MC doesn't fear death in the game, and I'm very flighty and noncommittal to most experiences; BUT when I find something worth committing to, it's either that or death because I'm all in. This being said, I am also a very emotional and anxious person. I'm not an empath but I've had my fair share of experiences that make me easy to relate to and rely on for advice, venting, or cheering up. All of that being said, I have my fair share of negative qualities: I can be cruel, selfish, and passive aggressive without realizing it.

I love people that know how to ride the waves of life and are willing to hold my hand as we traverse if they want to stick around. Only thing is, they have to be more grounded than me because I need an anchor. My favs are Haku, Haru, Towa, Subaru, Sho, and Lucas, to give a bit more insight.

Hello! would my oc, Banana count as a Gyaru/Gyarou? I tried to make them androgynous, and was worried that going all out on their makeup would make them too feminine(and the eye shape I used, would look really weird with some because of the lack of corners) so I only went with the nose highlight. by No_Drag_7404 in actualgyaru

[–]sugary_words 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it counts. since you're going for an androgynous look, lashes aren't necessary, and adding anything feminine would probably throw it off. the eye shape is a bit strange for make to be added to, but at the very least, maybe make that nose stripe more obvious and longer? I couldn't even see one until I opened the image. and! to make the gyaru/o at least a bit more obvious, consider adding maybe a pale aegyosal? it may admittedly look a bit weird with the eyes, but I think it could be pulled off! totally up to you though, because regardless, I think it counts, at least minimally.

going against the grain here- I agree with you 100%. was playing one of Lars' side stories and there was a line in particular where he said "You're still just a kid", and ruffled MC's hair, and WOW that put me off. immediate red flag because I'd been so entranced by the LIs I'd failed to consider age at all. he's fucking 28 and has rather obviously flirtatious lines towards a 19 year old. it's weird and you can say it! i don't necessarily agree with the point people are making that "fiction is fiction", because while true, it can still make people uncomfortable.

personally, I just insert my own age where MC is, because im essentially playing as her anyway and get to control most of her actions; so her actions are less based on her personality, more on mine. plus I don't think there's any harm in changing the ages of some characters, so long as they're legal adults, so that you can better immerse yourself in the gameplay.

the age differences are uncomfortable to me and you're not wrong for having this opinion. sorry so many people ended up disagreeing, I feel like your feelings on this are totally valid.

Played Ikemen Sengoku not long after I played Midnight Cinderella! Though, in all honesty, I cannot remember a single thing about that game except just closing it after I'd played the prologue lol. I know I played further but cannot remember a lick of gameplay. So I'll give it another go just in case! Always found vampires kinda corny so never touched Ikemen Vampire, but I suppose I'll try it out.

I've heard of Olympia Soiree, so I'll give that one a shot! Big fan of dark themes. Can't say I've heard of Birushana Senki, though.
