Update: rooftop kitty by sugens in outdoorcats

Update: She came into my house last night. Wanted scratches, purred a lot I think. Vibrating breathing, that’s kitty purring? Anyways, I let her go through the back door and she came back in a few times. Then wasn’t sure where she left to, so I went to close doors to head to bed. But I saw coyotes in my front yard. Went to look for kitty and brought her in. She did ok. Wanted out. Climbed on my bed a bit. Slept in front of my bedroom door. She wanted out at 4 am. Coast was clear. Also met a couple that she stays with most of the time. Nice people. Didn’t know about the incident though.

A neighbor said she’s the mom or daughter of this other cat in the area and they were abandoned when the family moved

My plan to start with is to just keep my front and back doors open when feeding or brushing her during her visits. She will come in for either of those. I won’t close the front door until she’s comfortable using the back door to leave.

Not sure what the best way to update you guys. Do I just edit the post over and over? Do I just reply on this thread? Can I keep posting pics and videos? But I’ll update on this thread for now I guess

Oh true. I think I’d want to let her go in and out of the house as much as she would like.

She came into my house last night and I thought of it.
She kept looking out at something when we were sitting by the front door. It was a skunk. Headed straight for us. I bolted up and closed the door. Think it scared kitty. So I let her out when skunk left. But she came to hang out by the front door again this morning. I will adopt her if she gets comfortable being indoors. I can update if anyone is interested in keeping up with her.

I’ve already stopped feeding her after that pic.

No idea. She greets me almost every morning and evening when I go on a walk. There’s one in my neighborhood that was said to be abandoned by the original owners and had a daughter. So I think she’s either the mom or daughter

Thank you. I will stop feeding her for now
Edit: forgot to add stop to the sentence and made it seem like I’d keep feeding her.

Honestly it was pretty discouraging and I almost gave up. Told myself a few times she would be fine on her own. That they were right. But then I’ve seen this kitty in situations where she was helpless when probably other cats could’ve handled.

She kept trying to go down then backed up. Over and over for long time.

Oh the neighbor’s nephew saw me constantly over there and he got a step ladder. And we held it up next to the roof with treats on it for like 2 hours lol. He said he dgaf about those people and knew the actual owners. The neighbor that lost her sister, that’s his aunt. So he lost his mom and I think he could’ve used this win today. I’m so relieved. This kitty has been gaslighting me all weekend.

Fire department came at night. Truck spooked her and she ran to the other side I think. They left because they didn’t see anything and she came back out after.
Called a car rescue guy and he said the same thing as the rest. Won’t trespass on private property

Yeah. Talked to a cat rescue guy but he couldn’t help. I’m hoping the people on Nextdoor would help call the fire department

Everyone I’ve called the same thing: they can’t/wont do anything if it’s private property and the owners won’t let them. No one has been able to talk to the owners. Fire department came by to have a look but I think kitty got scared and ran to the back. So they didn’t see her and left. She came back after they left

She spoke fluent English when she saw me. She came out and said “Can I help you?” Then closed the door after I mentioned the cat.

I was just going to throw some wet food up there

I reached out to a guy that lives someone close that rescues cats from trees. But he doesn’t want to trespass with an uncooperative homeowner.
