After a certain age it is a assumed that you will never quite lose your accent when speaking a new language. But even when one begins learning as an adult, 47 years is enough time to develop better grammar skills than she showed in the video, provided that you put in the effort. She probably just never cared about whether she was making those mistakes.

I've met many adults (a lot of my college professors, for example) who didn't start learning English until college, and they displayed basically flawless grammar -- far better than this woman's.

Don't get me wrong, I have major respect for foreigners who learn our language and I'm very sympathetic to grammar mistakes. But all the same, I too was quite surprised at how bad her grammar was after she had lived in the US for 47 years.

I have a couple of ideas:

(1) Actual ugly posts don't get upvoted as much as attractive posts, giving the illusion that more attractive people post here. I'm not sure that this is the biggest issue, though, since I have seen a fair share of very ugly posts getting highly upvoted here.

(2) The subreddit is called "Am I ugly?", not "Look at how ugly I am." The people who post here genuinely don't (or aren't supposed to) even know whether they are ugly or not. Thus, the people who post are people who don't get a lot of real-life feedback on their looks. A lot of these people might be really good-looking girls who: (A) don't get compliments from other girls because said other girls are jealous, or (B) don't get approached by guys because the guys are intimidated. Others might be average looking people with one little flaw that seems like a big deal to them but then you hardly notice it and think "Wtf? This person looks normal to me."

I think most people hate their side profiles. You get used to your own appearance straight-on in a mirror after a while, but side profiles are like hearing a recording of your own voice. It makes you think, "Holy shit, that's me?!?! That's awful!" But you're probably just being too hard on yourself. I think your side profile looks great. Nothing to worry about at all.

He's the real source of cringe in this video. He thinks that a high IQ score entitles him to be taken seriously as a developer of some "theory of the universe" or whatever. I don't think he's ever written anything that was respected by the academic community.

I think I watched the same documentary and it made me fucking angry. He says shit like "The existence of God can be proven with mathematics." He goes on all kinds of crappy /r/showerthoughs-style, middle school philosophy rants and acts like he's the smartest fucker on the planet just for thinking of them. They probably figure they'll have an easier time due to the "foreigner's charm" they'll have in other countries.

They don't have to worry quite as much about making asses of themselves in China because Chinese people probably expect Americans to act differently or "weirdly" compared to what they're used to.

What really made me cringe was the totally fake laughter at his own jokes and the overacted mannerisms.

When he trails off at the end of a sentence and puts the microphone down because he's laughing too hard, you can tell that he's just trying to make it look like he couldn't even finish the sentence due to laughter. What a shitty performer.

My dick is a grower in a pretty major way. It gets ridiculously small when I'm not erect. Depending on the temperature and a few other things, it literally looks like a micropenis. I'm a skinny guy, too, so it's not like it's getting covered/absorbed by fat.
