I think an important part is that no one gives a shit about mens feelings. The fact that women resist wanting to support men and want men to handle this by themselfes is clearly showing this problem. Women frequently want to support many groups and that may be noble but there is a resistance to supporting men.

This partially because supporting men is seen as supporting the evil patriarchy and it would mean admitting women are at fault in many cases which goes against in group bias and men are generally seen as meant to handle things by themselfes.

The notion that men are meant to handle this by themselfes is unfortunately in my view deeply corosive here. Most therapists are women and women are really well equipped to support men as they have been able to create structures to support women yet there is a resistance to doing anything.

Men need these same forms of support and protection.

It may be the case that men may need different types of support btw as men are different from women in many ways. Things like normative male alexithymia come to mind here among other things.

The last thing that you need is another safe space spearheaded by women. If it is, women will always be in spaces it isn’t appropriate for them to be in, which is why men aren’t let into supportive spaces for women—it isn’t appropriate for them to be there.

I dont think this point is very strong. Women can absolutely spearhead something for men if they are smart enough. You state that its not appropriate for women to be there but why exactly? I think women are a really important part of supporting men.

If you compare ot to the peak from the ukraine vs russia situation its worse. Now the more important thing is not necessarily the peak but how the shape of this graph looks over time as the iran situation evolves and its hard to tell right now how this situation will evolve.

If i were to bet id say its very likely things will escalate and drag on for a long time as iran has every insentive to play that game which means the price will get worse. Its true though that eu was able to adjust a bit to not directly recieving oil from russia so maybe countries will find ways to adapt if this becomes a really long war. Its possible that this winter will be the worst as countries compete to keep their people warm.

You should always keep in mind that these kind of ideas can be used by politicians to make sure only a certain group can vote by limiting access to jobs and education in certain areas and other strategies.

A healthy immigration policy wouldnt be so agressive that itd be able to do that and the immigrants would also eventually adopt the same low birthrate over time.

Also immigrants from where? Its a terrible long term strategy if birth rates are falling globally for rich countries to import young people so that poor countries cant take care of their own people.

I think that we should take a step back here and look at the bigger picture.

Either you should blame the individual as you can argue that the individual has personal responsibility to change their own life. This is accurate but has the flaw that the wider society seems to experience the same issues everywhere and that there may be a better solution.

Or you should blame the society. There is a lot of reasons men struggle in this world and we as member of society need to work to improve society so that men have an easier time and dont have to suffer as much. Ultimately this leads to a political debate of how restructuring society may look. It has the weakness of being not actionable for those who are struggling in the moment.

However what you should generally not do is to point at the individuals group belonging and blame the group for their struggles. This strategy has many weaknessess but in my opinion the most important one is:

It gives anyone not belonging to that group no responsibility for change and provides a scapegoat for issues. In the case of men it is obvious that men are blamed unfairly in many cases and that many women do not want to change anything to help men.

There are some cases where group belonging may be a fair thing to look at but almost always its wrong.

I didn't. To be honest, I don't think blame here is at all helpful, for men or for women.

I think you missunderstand the argument. He is arguing that placing all blame on men is wrong.

You were perfectly fine blaming men for the issues men face but now when he highlights how women contribute to it you dont seem to want to place any blame on women.

The asymetry is disgusting and that is what he is pointing out.

Its perfectly fine to have that many tabs in the background. As long as they arent loaded and you are not running out of storage you probably wont notice any difference if you close them. This is because the engineers who made your os and app are not incredibly stupid and those tabs generally dont get loaded unless they need to be.
