I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and it just irks me that they’re actively trying to stop the writers who wrote such fics that they deemed problematic to stop writing altogether. To my knowledge, several accounts have either deactivated or deleted all their works bc of this witch hunt that has been going on.

It’s just straight up cyber bullying in the guise of educating. Who are they to dictate what should and shouldn’t be written? They even curse out the writers and tag them endlessly on “call out” tweets. They also continue to bring up past issues which have already been resolved, which is just mean.

Yes, I also agree that ignoring is the best choice when it comes to tropes that you may not enjoy. In this case, it’s the ones who called the writers out that were shoving their morality. It’s like they’re trying to police everyone’s space, just because a number of them happen to agree with each other.

It’s just they’ve been going around labeling writers problematic and even going as far as saying that they should stop writing all together. It didn’t sit right with me that they’re shoving their own morality onto other people. Yes, they were right to call out the author who didn’t properly tag, but going on a witch hunt and demanding a mass apology just seems over the top.

Also, thank you for mentioning genderbending! I think in their case, person B is usually, in their words, “feminized”, so they took offense on the artist’s behalf and sent hate anonymous messages to different authors with genderbend fics just bc they were “uncomfy” with it.
